Just about finished and soon to feel the water 'neath it's keel

Note the Futaba FG7 transmitter now converted to 2.4 ghz and has performed faultlessly since I acquired it in the 80s

Sorry about the mouthy woman on flog it and the noisy motor...greased it but still makes a lotta noise (the motor...not 'er)

Pride of Hythe first sea trials 21/02/2018. Linkspan 1/96 model kit, took 4 months to build. Triple props and bow thruster. She handled well and had a good accurate speed.
Response by Dave M on the 4 months ago
Very nice scale model and at scale speed.
You just need to add the passengers to complete the effect, I'm still working on the 2000 for my 1:96 Olympic!

A great display put on by the SRCMBC crew. 👍

Hi Gerry, Easy answer, light machine oil. 3in1 or similar, dont use WD40, also grease can be heavy and cause drag on the shafts, oil all the way, especially if you sail in salt water.

Response by Gerry1 on the 4 months ago
Thank you Mark i thought you had to buy special grease so that's saved me some money, cheers

Fantastic. Look at her go

😊
Response by Dave M on the 4 months ago
Good action shots of the real thing in action. See how they raise the whip aerials and mast after launch. Must be interesting in a real blow.
Thanks for sharing

Hovercraft - Posted: 4 months ago by Dave M

This is Brian Clewes Hovercraft on a frozen Boundary Park Lake in Cheshire UK.
Our resident cob swan and his wife were sat on the ice probably hoping we had brought some feed. They don't bother us and we leave them alone. I should have filmed them taking off later, not an easy task on ice for one of our largest birds.
The hovercraft has two brushless motors and uses a LiPo.

Looks a nice size rescue hovercraft. Thanks for sharing the video. Best wishes, Dave W 😊

That looks fun. Have you tried it on snow ??
Response by reilly4 on the 4 months ago
Very nice, the hardest thing to do is probably to drive in a straight line.

HMCS AGASSIZ (Corvette) - Posted: 4 months ago by Dom of Essential RC

This truly stunning piece was created by Barry Sharman of Southampton International Plastic Modellers’ Society (IPMS UK). A replica of the HMCS Agassiz with a mind boggling level of detail not only on the outside but also on the inside visible through cut out sections of the hull. Barry invited me to see the other side of the model and was amazed to see several crew members restoring that side. Spectacular and no wonder it was protected by a glass case that Barry kindly removed so I could film it without chance of picking up any reflections.

Cos so called 'All in One' might be great for garden fences and running repairs during a war, when you use what you've got (or can 'acquire')
but 'If a job's worth doing ....' 😉
Response by reilly4 on the 4 months ago
Magnificent detail work. It is a masterpiece of modelling.
Response by RNinMunich on the 4 months ago
Absolutely, Modelling par excellence👍
Just think of the planning that must have gone into this! Building such detail deck for deck from the keel up 😲 Never mind the superb weathering, just back from several N Atlantic crossings!?
And where the heck did he get all the interior detail from ?????
Fabulous, just great shame that she'll never float 🤔

Hello Boatshed

If you have a look at https://astecmodels.co.uk you'll see that they have a lot more than just flashing blue lights

Response by BOATSHED on the 4 months ago
When you say leaks from the jet drive, is it not seal able yourself. I know you shouldn't need to being a new boat but is it just a bad seal that can be rectified with sealant ? I like the look of the boat it rides the water well at speed. But it does seem to sit very low in the water at slow speeds.
Response by figtree7nts on the 4 months ago
I guess it could be sealed up.
The opening to the jet drives is small.
You can't get your hands in!
The opening which is under the 50 cal.on her stern.
is meant more for working on the jet drives!
To grease if you will!
You could maybe spray some kind of sealer!
But why have to fix a brand new boat!
I was told I had gotten a leaky boat.
As for her sitting low.
It's just the design of the thing!
As the jet drive pump water.
the boat digs into the water!
Don't get me wrong it's a great looking boat!
I sent mine back, the wife wants me to get another one!
Response by pmdevlin on the 4 months ago
its a"pibber" this is the boat martin sheen used in the film "apocalypse now", first job for me would be get that cardboard flag off and find a silk one that will move in the wind!

good fun looking boat though, and the jet drives mean iy could operate in shallow water👍
