Fast Patrol Boat - Posted: 2 days ago by lesliebreame

At Ilfracombe pond is Bob Burrows Vintage Model Boat Co kit of the Fast Patrol Boat. Bobs made a nice job of it and has brushless motor with Lipoly batteries. Forward / reverse control was nothing special on maiden voyage and came close to a good sinking !!!

First run on the water, was not pushing it just checking temps and drive. The batteries were at about 25% down on top speed when I decided to make a video. The Tornado 850 motor and 60A speed controller seem well suited to the job.

Fairmile D - MGB623 and MTB741 - Posted: 11 days ago by reilly4

Both Fairmile D boats 1/24 scale and are scratch built. They have both been about 6 years in operation.
MGB623 is an MGB, flying the Norwegian flag and belongs to a good friend.
Mine is MTB741. It is powered by 2 Graupner Speed 700 12V motors with NiMH batteries. The 6 pdrs and 20mm guns can rotate. It has a balsa planked hull and fibreglass skin. Decks and superstructure are also balsa. Guns are from tinplate and brass.

Great looking location as well.😎

Excellent boats with great scale performance. I like the Fairmile Ds as they are good subjects for modelling and at static displays they always attract a lot of attention.

We had a brilliant though exhausting day at Winterbourne house and gardens on Saturday with lots of steaming and BBQ bacon!! Here is a superb Marten Howes Balis in aluminium owned by John Esher.

Another video from the sub-cam on HMS Triumph at Albert Park Lake in Melbourne, Australia. A Scratchbuilt British Trafalgar class submarine using two engel piston tanks for the ballasting system.

lovely, but the weed looks a bit of a risk in such a big pond !!!
Response by reilly4 on the 11 days ago
Yes, Unfortunately the weeds keep increasing. Each time it submerged near the bottom it was stopped by the weeds and surfaced in the same place. I edited these out.

Light up the night - Posted: 18 days ago by Trillium

Our club's 2nd annual "Light up the night" evening sail with lights on. The weather co-operated so it was dry and balmy after the sun went down. Lots of spectators on hand to enjoy the spectacle. Some boats were lit up like Christmas trees but others had the bare minimum navigation lights; at times navigating was a challenge.

Real great evening, sail weather was great & the free coffee was too thanks to club exec. for having a Light up the night run

Brilliant👍👍👍 and cool cool music 😉
Odd, couldn't download your version but Paul's version worked but a different 'cut' and with classical music! OK but not as cool as yours.
Cheers Doug 😎

Ships, Subs, Torpedoes and Hovercraft at my local RC show (4K resolution) - Posted: 24 days ago by Dom of Essential RC

One of my favourite RC shows of the year. The Southern Model Show has a bit of everything. The temporary boating pond is used by about 6 clubs who demonstrate their various watercraft to the appreciation of the visiting public.

Keep an eye on this web site early next year. They should announce the dates for 2018 but should be same weekend in September I expect. http://www.headcornevents.co.uk/event.php?eventid=25

VolantexRC ATOMIC RTR racing boat - Posted: 28 days ago by Dom of Essential RC

Having reviewed many planes, quads and cars over the last 3 years so it was refreshing to get a boat in the water. Why didn't I do this a long time ago? Bit addictive to say the least. Was surprised how quick this thing was on 3 cells. Lots of tight turns and no hint of it tipping. And a good run time not far off the manufacturers stated 8 minutes. Balance seemed to be quite critical though. The stock 3S2500 in the battery holder had it on step from the go. I dropped in a 3S2200 and despite pushing it to the furthest forward point it would bog down when it lost momentum. Easily solved with a little lead on some velcro next time out. Otherwise really impressed. Zero time to set it up. Nice it has rates dial for steering on the transmitter so can go between hooligan style tight turns and smooth high speed turns. Looking forward to taking it out again.
