not sure where this goes but fireboat parts for sale
Hi Stephen, This query clearly belongs in the 'For sale/Wanted' section of the Forum! Many examples here of the classic teacher comment after exams: "Student must learn to read and understand the question before hastily answering!" Gents: Stephen clearly stated in his initial post, and repeated in Post #6, that the parts are for the larger 46" version of the model.๐Ÿ™„ Please: Read the query/Post, read again if necessary, THEN answer. If you get the answer wrong - no sweat, we all screw up now and again. But if you answer the wrong question you just confuse the issue and earn posting points without positively contributing. This is by no means an isolated case.โ˜น๏ธ Just my thunks, Doug ๐Ÿ˜Ž

SSMBC (Florida) First Meet of 2024
Same here in Venice FL. Lew. My pond is down to approx 1 ft deep ( danger zone because there are a few rocks just about poking or just under the surface ). Even the Blue Herons are walking in the middle . I have two more locations that are much deeper to run the boats though, but have not done so yet. Rainy season is just around the corner. And so are the hurricanes โ˜น๏ธ Isaac

Light at the end of the tunnel?
Commodore -H, that would be so simple. I had to discharge myself at around 23.00 as I needed to get back home, my wife is disabled and the dog has dementia ( what a fun house ๐Ÿก) Final pulse was 54, having gone between somewhere under 60 down to 42 & 44 & 57. Just got to wait until the GP gets back to me. Meanwhile, back to work, home and boats ๐Ÿ˜

    Quick snap on coupling
Looks like at least two different types. Up to now I make my own miniature barbs mainly for water cooling. I'll need to look for some of these when I get to working on my fireboat. Lew Florida โ›ฑ๏ธ, USA ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

    If only
It was always my ambition to build a full size dinghy - albeit somewhat smaller than the one in the picture. I have to accept this will never happen now. Selway Fisher designs often follow similar construction to model boats and indeed he has a series of designs specifically to be built as models >> https://www.selway-fisher.com/sfdesign_model_boats.htm

    Boat storage complete
I think you will find by releasing the rigging it will relax the stays and sails. Though I agree, a sailboat looks great when rigged and sails ready to take on the wind for a dance across the pond. โ›ต๏ธ

Edine Model Yacht Club 2024 Events
Besides the 4 major events we put on at our "Home Pond", we have been asked to have a tent/booth to display at 4 Antique & Classic Boat Shows. Our boats are always a hit with the folks who have the full size versions. (Please excuse the typo in the Subject Line. It is Edina Model Yacht Club. I don see a way to fix it ....)

A further improvement using a timer to switch the element on and off as I mentioned it my last post. Experimenting with times to get the balance right. This timer is- on 8 secs off 5. Now have it on 10 secs, off 5 which is better. Battery drops .25v when on, but recovers mostly when off. JB https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=186rLltvdR0 8 secs on 5 off https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mubaZCvdZxE 10secs on 5 off https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSFhw4f3ITU showing drop and recovery

When a model shipbuilder travels the country . . .
Hey you sailors, Seen on the way of our Germany tour . . In a small side street . . . This anchor was salvaged from the Rhine at low tide (low water level) and is a reminder of the Rhine shipping of that time in the old course of the Rhine. In 1952, the Rhine side canal was completed for today's shipping. This anchor can be seen on the old town wall of Bad Bellingen. Small things that bring you joy . . Let's see what else I will find. . Best regards, Michel-C and my wife Doris

    Painting a Fibre Glass hull
I agree with Greg's preparation system. The abrasion is vital to get good paint adhesion, even if it hurts to loose that lovely gloss gelcoat finish. It is then important to use the correct primer for whatever finishing coat you will use as not all paint systems are compatible. In the past I have used automotive primers with no problems and recently I have been trying Multi Surface primer from the DIY store, with acrylic topcoat and water based Polyurethane varnish finishing coat - so far so good!
