A new naval project. What to do now?
That's true, Phil. In fact, Chris's advice ("Work on 3 while you're working on the design for 5 or 6") is the one that reconciles various practical needs and desires.

    Water-jet drive
I've had in mind for a number of years to put together an aluminium jet boat. The type of thing they use in the rapids. The thing that stopped me is welding aluminium together. I'm told it's quite difficult. Cutting the shapes from aluminium shouldn't be a problem and also bending the parts. It's just tacking, welding the sheets.

    Question of the Day?
That's true, Nick, but until everyone learns the problems of staying downwind in the days of galeons and vessels, the AI โ€‹โ€‹will never give up, hahahahah.

    two motors one esc
Hi all, as far as fuses go I do not use them as I have small boats with about 15 - 20 Watts power and the esc can deal with a stall current. It has never been a problem with my models. Roy

    LiFePO4 BATTERIES (Lithium-Iron-Phosphate batteries)
No problem Alessandro, I had a look back in this thread to see if Duncan had posted something simmilar to me, I found it quite amusing at the time. I will alter my post otherwise it will be confusing to anyone reading in the future. Don't hold your breath for test resalts, I have probably had the cells for close to 6 months. Cheers, Stephen.

    Sealing a horizontal prop shaft
Thanks, Toradog, for explaining this to me. I think I'm exaggerating with the precautions; even less precautions are enough to keep water out. I know I'm asking a lot, but if you'd like, feel free to do so. Do you have photos detailing how you built yours? Please only post them if you have them. Don't go crazy looking for them. You've already been too patient.

    FLAG MAKING TUTORIAL
THE HOMEBOUND PENNANT This type of pennant served a different purpose. Some ships in the U.S. Navy marked their journey home by flying a homeward bound pennant. These were custom-made and often extremely longโ€”sometimes supported to keep them from dragging in the water. They symbolized the end of a voyage and were part of a long-standing naval tradition. The one I made for the SC-96 represents a 285-foot pennant, with one star for each officer and one foot for each crew member (13 in total). It reflects the occasion when the ship steamed into San Francisco Bay on her return. At first, I printed 22 stars, but later found out that the SC-96 only had 13 officers, so I corrected it. I followed the same process used for the flags, but printed this one on a larger-format printer to achieve the length and keep the stars evenly spaced. Itโ€™s the same printer I worked with for over 27 years before retiringโ€”though I still get the chance to use it now and then. The pennant is first printed on paper just like the other flags, then hand-painted to finish. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

    Building from plans
Hi Zooma you are right Health and Safety have left a trail of filled in ponds and neglect mostly done by local councils where 'No' is so much easier than considering a possible Yes. Fisherman pay lots of ยฃยฃยฃs for exclusive use of ponds. We have a lot of ex-quarry ponds but no access. You might find local libraries have an on-line list clubs and societies that might help find a place. Back in the 1890's when Royalty was sailing their yachts it filtered down to would be Captains who would run a sailing club and have 'their man' build and sail their yacht but collect the trophy if they won. Gradually with various conflicts Royal yachting's last phase was Prince Phillip and his yacht. I note that Princess Anne has a yacht a Rustler 44 which she sails in and around Scotland with her husband. Two Admirals on one boat there's a thought! Sorry for the aside but society has left the act of making and doing and has gone over to preening and image. Roy

Modello RC scala 1/60, di piroscafo armato a goletta, liberamente ispirato alle cannoniere classe US
Thank you so much, Duncan, for your kind words. I understand. I've abandoned work several times because I've run out of inspiration. It happens. I'm glad I got you going again. If it can inspire you even more, consider that you're making a beautiful model and a difficult job. If you can make it sail, it will be a wonderful feat. Making accurate scale models move and turn with the power of the wind alone is very difficult. I'll obviously follow your progress with interest.

    AWOL, MIAor KIA!
Dave, your refreshing blend of irony, seasoned with a good pinch of cynicism, is exactly the recipe for sitting back and letting todayโ€™s global madness roll off you with a certain sense of amusement. Firstly, most of us are probably too old to actively fight back, and secondly, many of us tried in our younger days โ€“ through military service, political activities, NGOs and the like, as well as in supporting the next generation โ€“ to instil at least some sense of reason in our immediate surroundings. Warship lighting
Hi folks, I've got some questions about lighting on warships Another few projects I have pending or underway revolve around warship lighting. Primarily a LCS3 USS Fort Worth plastic model and DDG-82 USS Lassen from Proboat. A few more kits and projects are in the stash or build queue. I'm using an LCS4 photo for reference as that's the clearest I have found the lights. Anyways, I've established that the hangar deck lighting is kind of a cyan/blue-green shade that's very tough to get LEDs to match (blue circled parts). I keep on seeing these spotlight looking things by the flight deck and can't figure out what they're for or when/where/why they're used. Does anyone have any insights? They're circled in red. They look to alternate between green and amber There's also a traffic lighting looking thing circled in orange (and on the corner in the circle that could be another light?) and 2 red lights up top circled in purple. Original photo is here https://www.seaforces.org/usnships/lcs/LCS-4_DAT/LCS-4-USS-Coronado-photo-041.jpg Any help would be appreciated
