some magnificent craftsmanship on display ,the one with the carved dragons is incredible doesn't look like they used any wood filler unlike some of us (me) ,well back to the whittling with the laser .

Klondike - Posted: 25 days ago by Brightwork
This was just finished by my brother after a four year build. He used plans from the original sternwheeler from Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. We grew up there so there is a connection. She is seven feet long and the hull is built entirely from popsicle sticks. She is bound for the museum in Whitehorse as a static display.

Amazing craftsmanship

Great work. A superb example of how a scale model gives viewers a 3D view of something that exists now only in 2D images.

Brilliant 👍
Love the detailing, and on such a mammoth scale as well!
Popsicle sticks! You must have made a lot of children very happy👍😉
I've heard of others getting all family and friends to 'collect' coffee stirring sticks ...
Next model with zig million matchsticks perhaps ? 😉
Shame we will never see her under way but a superb memorial to her and her crews. Cheers Doug 😎

ALL THE TOY SAILING BOATS - Posted: 1 month ago by Les-Forbes
Anyone know who made these glorious boats, particularly through the sixties and seventies. Countless hours with the children watching them sail round and round till the wind would act in their favour and bring them back to shore. Frequently though, had to wade in with my trousers rolled up to rescue them. Of course the crying would stop then.

HI Les, the ones i have seen seem to be made by Star, from I think Birkenhead, don't know any more but you are right about the hours of enjoyment i have with mine!!!

Too good to let go. Will it come back. Will it come across danger on the high seas. Will the battery fail.

Response by Dave M on the 5th Oct 2017
Joysway models usually sail well straight out the box, once you have managed to fit the rigging!
Batteries will usually fail if you have not charged before sailing or you have a servo stalling against its stops on full movement.
Nice sailing lake👍

Model German docks from Krick, ABS hull, superstructure plywood, model is illuminated with reflector, position lights and mast, drive DC motor MIG 500 Boat 12V, controller 45A Turnigy bidirectional, LiPol battery 7.4 V 4000mA. The model has good stability and driving characteristics. I recommend this kit to all mildly advanced modellers. Good and accurate version of the model kit.😉

Hi Doug,
thank you very much for praise. The eyes are really better I've had some health problems but I'm fine now and so I can go to work on the boats. I've got enough of it, and maybe I can get it over the winter. And what have you got a new project.
I'm really looking forward to Munich. Zdenek.😉
Response by RNinMunich on the 29th Sep 2017
Hi Zdenek, Welcome back! Glad to hear you are better now👍
New project: I just acquired a 71cm Elco 80 PT Boat 😊 which I will refit as John F Kennedy's boat PT 109. Already have the crew and the MTB Green paint. 37mm gun for the foredeck is on it's way😉
4th pic is the crew with JFK on the right.
Last two pictures show what it should look like when I'm finished.
Viele Grüße aus München, Doug

Hi Doug,
ELCO 80 is a great piece, it's a great fast and skilled ship. So I wish a lot of success in the construction of this model and I will like to watch the construction. I wish a nice evening to Munich. Health Zdenek👍
