Re: 40'' Seaplane Tender, on the water at last
Re - Good piece of water you have there JB - what is it dam or river Hi Peter, it's actually a drainage pond for the golf course and surrounding housing area, and belongs the the Gulf Harbour development co. The Gulf Harbour R/C yacht club sails there and are the ones who built the jetty. I was happy with the model and it ran as I hoped it would, luckily. Battery life running as it was in the vid, would have been around 45/50mins being safe, (not going below 3.3v/cell, - battery alarm is set for 3.6/ cell and had not gone off ) Batteries are 2011 and 2012 so they are getting on a bit, ( the 2011 is getting a bit puffy but still balances ok) I might replace them with 2800s but probably not necessary, as just chugging around I'd probably get an hour or more. Motors only draw about 2,1A max ea static, (under way less than that.) and seem just right for the boat. Had actually thought of something ducted fan powered, as I have around 8 various spares I built to experiment with in the Vampires (incl 4 in a ducted fan experimental quad I built, if necessary). see pic. Next model might be the 20ft Hartley
    cabin boat
I built a few years ago, but that might be next year, as I have a lot of other things which need doing. I'm re-doing the Graupner Optimist at the moment between jobs. Thought about a ducted fan airboat (still have a hull I made 15yrs ago!) JB
