What to do????

Hallo Kathy, my sympathies and commiserations, I also lost my Dad a little while ago. This a basically a UK site but we have very active members all over the world, including the US and Canada, so if you post some photos (or even a simple list (text catalogue with name of ship, type if you know! and size) you may get some responses from your side of the pond. Some of our US / Canadian members have connections to maritime museums and may be able to help you. Or may even want to buy one of the models! Even if static models many of us like the challenge of converting them to functional models. RNLI stands for Royal National Lifeboat institute, it is the UK organisation which provides and maintains the lifeboat rescue services around the British isles. it is totally funded by voluntary contributions, no government . Come on all you sailors show your apreciation for our new improved web site, I look this morning and still only a miserable 7 donations for January, lets make it a super month and improve that number, target 31 or more that equates to one a day, yep my maths isnt bad but everything else is debatable!!!!!! Allen R As far as I am aware there is no target for donations. Membership is and always has been free. Our membership has always grown steadily and the wealth of free advice and expertise is a credit to all members who donate their time to help fellow modellers. Whilst I am sure Stephen is happy to accept donations to help fund the costs this is voluntary and targets, to me anyway, suggests otherwise. Dave

I've been busy with calculations this morning and ended up totally disheartened maybe to the point of digging out those ropes I spoke about the other day.......... 24 donations is equal to point 636% of our total membership..... I'm not impressed.....🤐🤐🤐🤐😤

From my reckoning there were only 44 people contributed to the website in 2016 with over 3775 members I think this is very disappointing, come on guys if you like the site then make a donation, surely you think its worth £5 for the year. I for one would be sorry to see the site go.

Thanks to everyone who has donated! This month we've broken records on the number of people who have contributed in a single month! If anyone would like to publically show they've supported the website, you can now add a 'Good Conduct' medal to your avatar. You don't have to, by default it's off, but if you want to show your support you can switch it on in the my account page or your donations page. All's quiet on the donation front today, we must be in the doldrums come on lets have another sudden storm and liven things up a bit, all hands on deck sorry I mean in pockets. I know times are hard after Christmas but if anyone think things are so bad do let me know, I do have a few lengths of rope with nooses already tied, name and address and I will send you one complete with instructions but always remember things are never as bad as they seem every cloud has a silver lining, please, please donate. Hi Cliff I think you must have been very unlucky not to get your problems solved by email, I can understand not getting much joy on the phone I think the guy who runs the site has a full time job and only operates the site as a hobby and service to fellow model makers even for a few small glitches now and then it's still great value for money, if it were a business you can bet subscriptions could be £25 or more per annum and if you didn't pay you would not get access so overall I recon we do very well.

Yes I agree Stephen deserves a medal for keeping this site running i hope people relaise how much it actually costs to build a website never mind maintain it. I am no expert in websites but I no it costs a small fortune and no forgetting all the time it takes to keep it running.

I agree. I have found the magazines published in the UK disappointing and not of value to me but this site is interesting and stimulating. A £5 donation is a small price to pay.

Any amount helps the cause, it feels good to donate to such a worthy website as this one. Who's next come on we should all give at least a fiver Like Jarvo said, any amount helps. who's next are you the next person to donate. This website is extremely helpful, think of all the fine people you've met or will meet. Think of it this way where else would you hangout, read learn and share well where....? 😊 If you don't have a Paypal account that's alright, just do a straight forward Contribution... Come on I know ships and boats should be water tight and so should ducks backsides but there's no need for sailors and model boat builders to be the same, come on lads see to the website maintenance fund, where else can you get all this support and advice for next to nothing ????????????
