Re - JB - how very unkind of you Just Had to Peter,😊 (mind you we had a few HDMLs put on uncharted rocks here while surveying the coast back in the 70s) Have you ever heard of the 'Golden Lotus' , a 35ft Chinese junk which a Kiwi Northland farmer had built in Hong Kong in the early 60s. He and 3 mates ( one an ex deck officer on cargo ships, the other 2 farmers - the oldest was 25) sailed it all the way back to NZ ( 8500 miles) using a few charts, a second hand sextant and a wrist . Came down through Indonesia down inside the Great Barrier Reef and across to NZ. Amazing feat of seamanship especially in a Junk. People think they are pretty good these days if they sail to Aust using Sat Nav in 50ft boats! JB

Must make this brief. Am running silent for the next few days..my daughter, err, Sea Cadet Grace has a birthday this Friday. I have been put on temporary duty as the comm officer in charge of migrating all data from her older Android comm device to a newly refurbished IPhone 6s. Although she has an inkling of what’s coming, she does NOT know the particulars of said present. Since this will take some time and effort on my part, I will be off the the next few nights...LTjg (Feline Sqd) Errol will be handling the for the next few nights. PO Hargett reporting for the Western Squadron, Texas Navy. Alls quiet so far this evening, with the exception of an Oklahoman rabbit intrusion near HQ. LTjg Errol Cat is keeping.a weather eye on them just in case they decide to set up another 3 pounder battery. Am in talks with Commodore concerning new vessel for Red River patrol. To Fleet Admiral RNHQ Munchen At 1900, weather in outer Bristol Channel appears to be too rough for suspect vessels to put to sea and land goods on a lee shore. Will reappraise the situation later. HW is not until approx 0600 and as I wish to make a surveillance of the area around HW, will not leave base until well into the middle . Hi Martin. Yes I suspect you are right. This is what I will be testing keeping a close on the amp draw during filling. If the pump dies, then failure. I will have to get a high pressure pump. More money!!. I know you have said that it does not take too much water to submerge the sub, this will determine the back pressure produced. It might be lower than expected. If so, Success!!. If not,🤔😂

Must forward this to the Fleet admiral-a dispatch was received from PO Errol Cat who is in command of the Texas Navy’s flagship San Jacinto while CPO Hargett is on leave following the skirmish with the Oklahomans-message reads “meow, meow, meeeowww, hiss hiss purr meow” translation follows: “On last noticed rogue Oklahoman rabbits of their Second squadron assembling what appeared to be a an unauthorized shore battery of unknown size, probably 3 pounder. Tried to contact to no avail. Later in the the battery was turned against the San Jacinto, but their aim was high and they missed our fwd bow and mid ships. I then ordered the fwd batteries to open fire. Result, rabbits retreating north to Oklahoma, shore battery destroyed. Signed, Errol T Cat, PO, temporary commander San Jacinto” Respectfully requesting shore leave for my crew and an increase in the catnip ration for PO Errol Cat upon my return from leave, which should be this weekend. CPO Cash Hargett, Texas Navy western squadron. 😀

CPO Hargett reporting. New fleet tug Taucher has passed sea trials and is berthed with other Western Fleet vessels and the staff Studebaker. No problems here with the Hurricane this far north, however, HQ was invaded by daughters sleepover with 2 of her friends. Also, since the Commodore was celebrating her 50th at a downtown Dallas hotel on an overnight with HER friends, (think slightly inebriated Baptist middle age women😂) I pulled rank and had some possible recruits over for movies and pizza. I had the Sunday night till 0330 hours, when I succumbed to too much pizza and a little bourbon. PO Errol finished the . Seriously, I think I could have been less tired if I had been at work. My body keeps telling me I’m not 25 anymore. Weather officers telling me the high pressure ridge is back again, will be high 90s and dry next few days..skies clear, boats docked, swabbed, all maintenance complied with, logs complete. CPO Hargett hitting the sack lights out in an hour.

Thanks Cash👍 Appreciate that. I have to admit that I started Night one sleepless night JFF. Thought it would be a one off post and that would be that. Frankly I've been amazed😮, and very pleased😊, how it took off and the (predominately🙄) positive resonance it has generated. It has produced a lot of great humour, and even some interesting facts about all sorts of ships n stuff!
