Very much like my Starlet that I built from plans around 50 years ago and sadly no longer have. I gave it away to one of my son's friends when we were downsizing in 1992.โน๏ธ

Hello JohnF
You are several steps ahead of me, I have considered modifying her to a Gaff rig. Roycv who posts on here often has a beautiful Bella that he converted to gaff rig some years ago. When I get around to it my next boat to gain entry to my harbour will be a beautiful plank on frame 1mtr Nimbus which I built a couple of years ago. I love this particular yacht which lives in my bedroom as it is too big to go anywhere else in the house. Regards ChrisG ▲

Looks like you made an excellent job of building it, well done. There is a great pleasure in building a boat and then actually seeing it sailing, itโs a pity more people donโt explore this more.

That's great Chris. The Bella (and its larger sister Bellisima) is a realistic looking and practical sailboat that has proved to be superb to sail on lighter winds. Thereafter a gaff or cutter rig conversion will be relatively easy and an additional challenge.
I really like auxiliary motorised scale- sail models myself built to plans on fibreglass hulls. I then try to persuade other club members that there is far far more to model sailing than just racing ready-made and plastic DragonForce 65s or One Meters. With best wishes. John ๐๐๐ ▲
