The problem with the AI search and response, she may not get the correct 'fit' for an answer, but you need to take the 'reasonable doubt' approach and choose the nearest of the 4 choices on offer. In this case there were 3 ships (a number of much dispute) that supposedly warned the Titanic of Ice on that night.. One of them and the one most popular ship to the TV documentaries was the one AI chose here as the 'correct answer'!!

I would guess the 18v drill would have a motor inside that would be perfect?? The ESC would defined by the Motor, Brushed or Brushless..

Brushless ESCs run up to a higher max voltage but there are Brushed ESCs that support 24volt..

DC to DC devices at the current you would require would not be small or efficient and I'm not sure how a speed controller would handle them..

Remember also Lipos require a strict cut-off voltage else they will be damaged if you over discharge them. If you use a Lipo Drill Battery, this protection will be built into the battery and if/when the low voltage is reached, the vessel could just stop dead in the middle of the pond!!

I know the device.. I am wondering what your receiver set up will be?? A separate channel for each motor and the Rudder mixed with the Steering port, or no rudder at all?? (ie Tank steering??)

I would have a guess and say the rudder servo is stalling and the receiver has a 'brown out' and the reboot of the Tx resets it.. I would check the Rudder endpoints to be sure you are not DRIVING the servo beyond the mechanical limits of the installation.

BTW.. What Receiver and battery are you using??

Flaxby.. You have done this all this pretty much by the book. As I commented before, I would replace the 3 blade fuses in the Motor Phases with links as they are an extra single point of failure and maybe a liability rather than a help. The 40A breaker on the Battery Positive will serve to protect the motor.

I say protect the motor, because the motor you have chosen is the weakest link on the propulsion chain (if in fact there is a weak link!) What you have there is an 850W motor, which at 5s will get really pissy if you exceed 42ish amps (850w/20v = 42.5 amp) The battery will give you virtually unlimited current and the ESC will pop at about 100A Peak so that leaves the motor at risk should you stall the Prop and give the throttle some welly! The 40amp breaker may protect you but I would go lower say 35amp (as they trip slowly) or even remove this if you don't want it to trip just because it feels like it and leave your vessel stranded somewhere. (BTW - 850W on a 1M scale boat is a LOT of push! - for more push get a bigger motor)

The above is all theoretical as there will be wiggle room in most of the components. On the big Electric Helis we have no trips or fuses. The biggest failing items are the batteries as they do work hard and get hot.. You can't water cool anything on a Heli!!

Just so you know where you are, to start (as is suggested elsewhere in this thread) you should invest a recording Watt Meter and you'll know exactly where you stand on the power consumption front.

As far as your battery care regime goes, you are over and above with your handling. Remember, never drop them and if you do, quarantine them out doors for a day or two to make sure they are OK. Last thing.. NEVER let the batteries get too hot to hold after a run. If they do, you need higher capacity battery, a smaller prop or LESS throttle!!!

Quote.. "On 29 August 1782, the 100-gun warship Royal George, sunk whilst lying at anchor off Spithead and was Britain's worst shipwreck until the Titanic over a century later."
