π Controlling Becker Rudders

Hi all, wondered if anyone had any advice/info on the setup I'd need for these type of dual rudders? I realise a hovercraft is a tenuous link to model boats but at least it's on water π€£ I've just bought this hovercraft and would like to change the rudders to the becker type to give more control (especially for stopping, rather than just throttling down so it increases friction with the ground!) Any help gratefully received... here's the YouTube link:

Thanks Dave, yes - they're very similar, just slightly different button setup but with the same tech inside I think! I'm using Mode 2 with throttle on the left and rudder on the right. Ideally I'd like individual proportional control of the motors without input from the rudder, but realise this may not be possible without the upgrade that BobbyN has suggested!
Look forward to hearing more π

Thanks Bobby, I'm now in touch with the seller so hoping to be able to get the upgrade sent over to the UK, I'll keep everyone posted on this as I'm guessing it may be of interest generally - I've certainly not seen anything like it over here! Please do keep me in touch with any other similar developments (i.e. Spektrum) too. Thanks again.. Ericπ

Thanks Dave, Iβm using a few TXs but mainly a flysky FS-T6 and i6.
Iβve got a W-tail mixer from Mtroniks I was going to try, but would quite like some more independent control of each outboard. Any help with mixing on the radio gratefully received!
Regards, Eric

Thanks Bobby, I found him on the Aus.com eBay- Iβve sent a message but no answer. Could you find out how much it would cost to send one to the UK do you think? He doesnβt offer international postage..

Thanks Bobby, nope, nothing coming up here. Are you in the UK? Iβve tried on eBay.co.uk as well as .com without success. If you do have the email that would be ace..
Thanks again! Eric

Thanks Mark, you mean you split the output into two? I was assuming Iβd do the same. My motors are brushed too (although very high speed!)

Many thanks Dave, I already have a second ESC, Iβll just need to work out how to control two of them from one stick, whilst allowing independent speed control!! Maybe mixing on my TX?

Hi all, HNY! Need some wisdom please.. Iβm building a 1/12 model of an Atlantic 85, with twin outboards (pictured) and am unsure how to ensure they run at equal speeds. Iβd originally thought of using a W-tail mixer to mix the throttles with the rudder, but means having two ESCs and even then Iβm not sure Iβd get full control over the individual motor speed. Theyβre very close together (50mm between them) so it may not really be an issue!
Any suggestions gratefully accepted..

Managed to connect up the motor once all the drive bearings were in.. first video is with a 7.2v battery (which was actually nearly flat!) and then in the second video with a fully charged 11.1v lipo!
Might get the Atlantic RIB to plane yet..

π Servo jitters

Hi Martin,
Thanks for asking! The ferrite rings didnβt seem to have much of an effect, I then disconnected one of the micro servos and that made it slightly better. I noticed (after Iβd burnt it out with too high voltage batteries -11.1v lipos and the motor was an M500 7.2v) that the old motor didnβt have any suppression, so when I changed it to a 12v M600 Iβve added the suppression capacitors. Iβll keep you posted!

Hi all, thinking of getting an alarm to fit to various boats to warn of low voltage, any suggestions pls? I use lipos as well as Nimhs (and the odd lead-acid) so an interchangeable one would be useful..
Many thanks in advance!

Thanks Jacko, will give the ferrite ring a go if the new servo misbehaves too - it arrived today but not had the time to test it yet! Interesting to see if it fixes the problem when thereβs only one servo plugged in (unlike the video) and ITS the one doing the jittering!
Thanks again..

Ah glad you found Bob the Duck! Heβs still going... will try more distance between the TX and the RX, although oddly the larger one worked fine in close proximity, I also remembered that the two servos worked fine with the same radio in another boat! Maybe the ferrite ring is the answer π

Evening all, electronic help needed please. I'm building an LCT and working on the sea doors - I've used two micro servos to operate them. However, when the servos are plugged into the RX, they just jitter (see video). In order to check the RX/TX setup, I tried a larger servo - this worked fine! Is the micro servo U/S, or am I missing something? Flysky TX/RX setup, voltage fine on both, no other servos plugged in, RX correctly bound.

Hi all, a friend is building a submarine and wants to turn it on remotely with a proximity switch and magnet, he needs to know where to wire it in... I thought it should be into the positive wire from the battery - am I right?
Thanks in advance,
Eric
