Hi again! Have you tried contacting the Durban Model Boat Club? On their Facebook page they appear to have at least one model of an old SAR&H steam tug (not sure which one). They'd probably be able to assist with sourcing plans. Regards, Glyn

Hi Joburg-sailor! De Mist was built by Dorbyl, Durban, in 1978. Powered by two 8-cylinder Mirrlees Blackstone diesel engines with twin Voith-Schneider propulsion units. No idea if plans are available of this specific tug, but I do have some of similar vessels that were built by the same company for SAR&H in 1980 that are still in service (but probably nearing their service lives by now). You've really done a good job of the American Scout - very inspirational. What did you make the railings out of? I also have a Scout (which was given to me many, many years ago in a semi-complete state) that I'm currently restoring, but not sure how best to tackle these particular items. Sad to say, I'm not actually a member of the Centurion Model Boat Club, despite having lived here for a number of years. But I'm sure the guys at the club would love having your model sailing there. Perhaps one day I'll have the time to venture to Emmarentia Dam to see the Spioenkop and all the other boats of the GMBC in action. Best regards, Glyn

Hi Joburg-sailor! Brilliant model - nice to see something from our part of the world. As a matter of interest, did you develop the plans yourself and where do you sail her? I was glad that they decided to use the pennant numbers from the old President-class (Type 12) frigates, F147 having previously been that of the President Steyn. Best regards, Glyn (from Centurion)
