Prefer place them in a container. I use a ceramic made fir it but see a bag like thing as well as surplus ammo boxes. If the battery is puffed up itโ€™s no good. Google How to get rid of it. So far no house fires but dark spot like in the pic still in concrete floor. I use 1 to 3 cells about 2 amp batteries. All batteries are labeled with Marker pen. Iโ€™m usually around when charging. In summer do it in driveway.

Donโ€™t feel bad back when lipid first came out in large sized packs I had a blow up. I had 2 packs of same brand and a charger. I placed battery A and full charged. Placed battery B aside n put battery A in charger thinking it was B. Went to stores n got a call from neighbor that my house is on fire. Thinking itโ€™s a joke! Nope it wasnโ€™t. The charger didnโ€™t have full charge battery detection as they do now. $500,000 in insurance claimed. The Fed government sent product safety around to see this, after state fire safety guys reports. For a few years after house rebuilt I wasnโ€™t allowed to even own Lipos. With newer chargers they can detect a charged battery n shut off. I donโ€™t do 4 or more single pack as anyway with 5,000 Ma current. The basement floor has a burn spot from the start of fire still there from 2006 fire. โ˜น๏ธ

I had similar fir airplane Goldberg falcon Nick Ziroli taught me to fly it in Hauppauge NY. It used to be ITT antenna farm n Marconi before that. It is an industrial center since. Land was cleared and we flew. Small glo engine. Next was galloping ghost then finally a digital system Kraft 4 ch on ham radio freq. 54 MHz. Next was first Futaba and finally Spektrums when they appeared. Somewhere in between Kraft n futaba was HealthKit. Most bought from Ziroliโ€™s friend Larry of Larryโ€™s hobby shop Commack a land mark. I think I bought his first 4 Chan Kraft ir futaba. Larry was a fun guy he even flew to Massachusetts when we moved in his real piper tripacer with his wife for lunch. How many from Long Island remember Larry? N Nick?

Found this holds smart phone so you can draw switches n settings then take a pic of it. Set iPhone in holder with picture shown of settings. Maybe a way to do the nite function? I found no note holder for sale Another idea is the antenna plastic flags we used to use to identify frequencies. Sketch setup on paper n glue to stiffer card board . Glue that to few flag? Clip to transmitters small antenna? I had Ben using masking tape bits n a sharpie pen to Id switch positions. Also I use same switches for aileron, rudder positions for all craft but lately I have 3 positions switches for flap, vertical direction and on heli So I have to retake at times. I like the note example that was in pic here.

As we age Rc gets less on aircraft Boats what can happen wrong? It turns left not right but no crash

My large high speed glider went straight down liPo but like pretzel but didnโ€™t explode or open. I blame the receiver but not so sure it wasnโ€™t me. Boats are safer bet n less clean up on damage. Now where did I put that electric jet engine fighter?

Remember 2.5 ghz is attenuated by water rain too. It can penetrate buildings at times. Airplanes have height advantage n clear areas once in air. Boats can go behind vehicles or land which can attenuate signal. There is usually a fail safe mode that you program. In aircraft itโ€™s straight ahead n motor off. Slight nose up. On boats you can set for a wide circle or motor at half? I have Rc aircraft that if signal is lost it returns to take off point n manages itself to auto pilot land. It would be good if a boat could return to launch point on auto pilot. Gps gives that ability in Rc heli n planes. It could apply to boats?

2.5 ghz is diff from MHz radios The antenna is very short and can penetrate the boat easily if itโ€™s inside it. Metal is a problem I have a spektrum radio one receiver fir gliders has a long antenna the rest are tiny couple inches. If you wanted to put a long antenna line I described inside a plastic pipe that works. Otherwise the radio with short antennas can go inside the model. Do a range check in either case to make sure. Btw 2.5 ghz wonโ€™t work under water in a sub. MHz radios can get a few feet under.

Surface craft at ghz work fine with radio just placed inside model

I found this in USA Walmart has it. Also titebond has worked for me in past too. I have used it thinned and brushed on balsa as a waterproofing Iโ€™m going to buy the other stuff n try it. I just bought the Dumas creole paddle wheeler boat. This will be my 3 time building it. By now I think I can make it better with improvements. The last two I sold this one Iโ€™ll keep. My 5 ft DE1040 Garcia ship fiberglass hull Iโ€™m told after 2 years waiting will be done by xmas. Once done with that ship Iโ€™ll hang up my building tools. Time to retire and just run the boats in the pond.

I saw a kit that converts the revel kit to a true diving sun. Or buy the Dumas kit. I have the Russian sun it dives when moving forward. Btw it works with old MHz Rc gear. Ghz Rc gear wonโ€™t penetrate depth of water.

I had thought of a float with antenna but in he end use a MHz transmitter was easier. I had sold all mine so I picked up one from eBay. Actually I wound up with two one AM one FM. FM worked better. The dc motor controller was from a car as it had reverse capability plus switchable micas or LiPo. The Ghz band gets water attenuation so it wonโ€™t work under water well. Bathtub test showed at least a few feet under was ok. Only thing o donโ€™t like is you seal electronics so it has to be really tested. Battery is on a plastic box like that can open fir access but I put a soda bottle cap structure to access charge connector anyway itโ€™s fun

Built from old kit. I built one before and the Bluefin one too from Dumas. I cut the hull separation so a space is there. In general it was fun. I had to buy an older Rc as only 72 MHz works under water for maybe 3 ft. The ghz signal works surface only. I cut out all the hull flooding holes as per pictures I gathered. Basically built as per blueprints inside except used newer motor controller that can take LiPo batteries. Excuse the messy background.

Bring on the real MSCO minesweeper for years I wanted to build one. My uncle (Sam really) was my boss on ship. He told me about the Calypso was a rebuild on the Msco frame. So I found the Calypso and used personal pictures as guides. The wheel house was easy and radar room behind it. Adding deck gear and the big wheel that holds the sweep electric plus cable weโ€™re tricky. I added the floats and cable control mechanics on rear deck. Basically the main deck cabin is same along with side rails. The bow needed work but turned out good. It has Rc gear in it but never floated it. Iโ€™m getting a display case fir it. My next ship is DE1040 Garcia. 5 ft body fiberglass from scale shiplyard company. I may float that one.

I have built that model twice. Sold them. Best part was building it. I did the body first then the paddle wheel. Installed it on body. Took months on the rest. I had a smoker in it and the Dumas motor. It has to move slow or deck gets awash. No fish attacked it. Had sound effect motor from a kit. As motor speeds up so does the engine sound. I still have box with left over parts. Skewers went to bbq but left over brass from rudders n plastic for railings n mahogany wood. Canโ€™t throw it out I may need it someday haha. Had tone of Ho people all over decks, barrels and stuff. Loved them but no room to display when not playing with it in water.

I built this Victoria sailboat over Covid. Itโ€™s at done house in LA. We got caught there day before LA was closed. Stayed 6 months n did RV back to Massachusetts. I have 2.5 ghz radio and big sail Servo in it. Tested in pool. Iโ€™m back out in LA so maybe Monday hit the Rc hobby shop called Ronโ€™s in Glendale. Paint is the spray Acrylic for plastics. Coated with clear. Hull is plastic so my CA was put on to attach deck too thick. It melted plastic. I was going to fill in but said not worth the effort it doesnโ€™t leak.

I use tape n clamps to position it or pins then CA glue with instant spay dots or more holds it. Fir critical I can use epoxy with a slight sand mixture mixed in. Holds n seals forever. On hard curves I steam or wet wood and slowly glue n bend after instant spray. Works on plastic too if done sparingly or it heats plastic
