Creole Queen by Dumas build
Slowly sanding n glueing. Figure several more months work. Iβm in California for the Grammys February so Iβll loose one or two months on west coast. I will glue main deck to hull next. Then set up paddles. Once that is done Iβll paint the cabins and attach them. Next will be railing n stairs ( assembled stairs already). I might get to pick material fir window curtains today. Hull came out nice. Iβll put rudder tubes in tonight. It is a lot of work. I need to clean shop floor of wood n dust accumulation tonight. Best model to build fir winter months. I still work as I own company but find relaxing on ship at night relaxing. I did ladders last nite while watching tv.

Finally working on this ship. All hand cut out wood. I appreciate the laser cut models. Ok Rc it with outboard electric motor. Plans looked easy enough but it isnβt. Iβll fiberglass the Holland maybe add mahogany skin to deck. Plenty room fir electronics in midsection if I make roof removable.

In settings each switch position has a setting right now you have switch on n off doing sane thing. Go to the switch and see on screen it says 100 or a number then switch the physical switch It will have same number but dial it a bunch so Servo arm moves. The physical switch when flipped will move as you set. In flaps it goes 100% + or 100% - spectrum manual is on line fyi if u donβt have it. Look up setting up flaps. Also the wing has to be set fir flaps and the switch you use assigned fir it. Manual will show you. Itβs easy. I bought this item it plugs in as a Servo but has two relays the from centered will flip. Easier to use

Are you cutting out deck under cabin to access inner hull. It looks like you could add Radio Control easily and motor with access by taking cabin off?

When Iβm home next week if I can Iβll see what I removed n how that parts gets removed? My boat worked ok but I wanted to convert to regular RC n a brushless motor with a typical rudder Servo. It is really dusty from years of sanding on work bench.

π two motors to one reciever socket

Look at each esc as an aileron you can set up one in aileron channel n one in aux channel then use the various mix features. That way you can set each channel using the reverse Servo switch feature. Iβm using Spektrum so I know this works. That way you can have one firward n one revers steering using motors And mix forward backward It might use a helicopter mix to do it all. So elevator stick centered n like a flap or eleven mix put the flap up or down. In this case the Servo or esc will go forward when stick pushed and reversed when pulled. At same time the esc acting like the Servo can make one go right n other left with the stick like an aileron. Just think of the esc as a Servo. So one stick steers n controls speed of motors. While the rudder stick controls the boat rudder. Hope this made sense

π Use Tamiya white putty on RC boat abs/styrene hull

It can be ok on boats but still needs a coat of paint on it. Iβve used the putty you patch walls with. Itβs the one that is pink and drys tan. It sands well but I coat with paint or even CA glue. Itβs not waterproof but decent coating it can last. There is always the Bondo filler that is in a squeeze tube too.

π advice on which flysky transmitter to use
4 months ago by

I guess on this side of pond I see futaba, jr and spektrum transmitters. I have had spektrums since they first came out. It holds all my planes n boats in memory. New receivers are easy binding. For aircraft n Helis it has great features for mixing, flaps, video and more. You can desensitize the sticks so they are not as sensitive near center. It has enough channel switches as well. I use it on my submarine, sailboat, paddle boat n speed boats. Never used flysky so I thought Iβd give spektrum a plug here.
I found this in Los Angeles burbank hobby shop fir $20. Box ripped but all parts in it. I screwed up the motor pinion gear. I may have to shelve it n take the gear box home to east coast n fix it. Or replace with standard motor n Servo setup. As building it would do figure 8βs. We had great time at Grammys n after party Sunday. Met a lot of UK residents who build boats too there.

The wind farm boat is great.?Iβm not a fan of the wind farm. Itβs a rip off to Somerset MA. They lost two big power plants which raised local taxes and lost local jobs. I tried to put a Eco friendly power plant in there. The political hacks favored the wind farm termination at that site. It makes no jobs or helps taxes or even lowers local energy prices for the town. It screwed over the town big time. However, the boat youβre showing looks like a good project. Can you name it Somerset in honor of the town?

Google it n call them if possible
I heard ammo boxes work well too. I like the other Lipos that donβt use liquids. They are made by Sony, BYD and others. Usually by used in tools. They are a little heavier but are safer n can be put in safely in a landfill. I has some A123 batteries given to me to test for RC. They look like a C or D carbon battery in size. They started to catch on then went away. We used to get an electric cordless drill n take batteries out of them. I thought they woukd do great in cars we tested n some electric gliders but seem to have gone from scene

We moved out of house fir 6 months I was able to be the contractor overseer. I was there every day n coukd take care of issues in real time. We rented gir 6 months n had to be back in house by then. We did it and went home a day early. All belongings went to warehouse n was cleaned n like new. All clothes got cleaned including delacate costumes n props from my collection. I redesigned house interior at that time too. We had new wood floors put in, new appliances. In firecc Cc area they cleaned with dry ice pellet processes then sealed the wood. New wood added where needed. No smoke smell. The entire basement was stripped bare n a new one built. Added bathrooms n living space, new porch. 6 months only because I was on the job every day. It would have been a year normally. I wasnβt allowed gir a couple years to bring batteries in house Wifeβs rules but eventually they returned

Lithium batteries LiPo when they go it can send flames as far as a few feet or more. Yeah I did it. Had 5000ma stack charged it. This was before safety shut offs on chargers . When I accidentally put this fully charged battery back on charge an hour after it started a big house fire in basement. $500,000 dollars in home damage. Luckily no one hurt but lost half first floor flooring n the copper pipes were like spaghetti drooped. Electrical wiring gone. 6 months to fix All walls taken out on first floor, new plumbing n wiring all floors plus smoke smell had to be processed n burnt Timbers replaced. Donβt fool around with batteries donβt leave unattended too

What a cool idea. I bet it could be worth building a prototype to see it work. With rollers with scoops on them you could make it go sideways eliminating a tug fir docking on a large full scale version.

Never heard of Taycol before n was interested in its history. Quick google I found the company web site. Very interesting and from the 1800βs. Also found places specializing in selling them. I didnβt find ships or submarines for sale. They do need oil on commutator badly to last longer n cause less interference with radios. Newer motors are around but if you want old time authentic stuff itβs out there. I went from DC motors to AC long ago fir weight n power fir aircraft models. Guys check out the company web site I took a snap of the google results

I have a lot of DC motors 300-600 sized. They were fir mostly aircraft but a motor is a motor. The larger esc fir cars can do DC motors n accommodate liPo n micas batteries too. I used that combo with a 600 sized motor on my Aluka sub. It isnβt the length of boat as much as weight to determine motor. Just pay postage I can send a couple in a box
