Finally spent some time rigging her to be boomless and still work. I think the mainsheet horse works ok. There is a little kink at each end of the horse to catch the sheet on the leeward side but still will travel over when tacking, though needs a bit of a jiggle sometimes.

Yes Alessandro, it is complicated. I have a complicated plan. I want to try the more basic version using the existing fitting but with a few bits renewed to lower friction and if that works well I may move to the more permanent even lower friction version (that will involve two new through deck fittings). Im not going to try and explain it. If I ever do it I will show you.

Yes there were a few little gusts on that day but mainly I was sailing with the rudder only with the other hand taking a picture so was often off the wind but close hauled so I was broaching a lot.
I just tried to upload a video onto its harbour and it didnt work. Is there a method? Maybe I might use a link to google photos...

Yes It is built from plans. I was trying to collect the parts list when this pre built one became available. She is lighter than the dragonforce depending how much paint and glue you use, and the bulb is a lot smaller. The hull is 4 balsa sheet sheets coated in resin and a sheet for the deck. I can see if I can share the plans, they are freely available to my club members.
It is a very old design and not as adjustable for the conditions as a df65 with df having different rigs - though there is no reason not to have rigs for this. I think it is an adjusted df rig anyway.
The method of sheeting in is a lot faster too so it feels responsive compared to the 4 turn servo on the df, this uses a long servo arm.
She looks a lot nicer to me than a df but you would probably get laughed at if you entered an rg national with it... That is until they see the light wind performance.
Yes it is called a jif 65 and is rg65 class legal.

This is the typical boat sailed at Kirklees Model Yacht Club (a division of Kirklees Model Boat Club) who are more into sailing vessels and race.
It was apparently chosen because the build is very easy so encourages members to build their own. The design I believe is from spain if memory serves.
This example was built by a passed member and is in perfect condition. ..Though there is a blemish that I need to work some more on where someone sailed into me in a gust and holed her hull on the port side! - It is barely noticeable now after some chop strand matting and epoxy, fairing and a good paint job.
She is great fun to sail compared to my previous dragonforce 65 which felt like sailing in treacle comparatively.

I acquired 'Kathryn' from Buck who fitted her out. I hope to add some extra features to her to get her closer to an authentic Bawley but for now just having fun sailing her.
It's just as well my wife is called Kathryn too!

'Kathryn' is well. I am doing a few jobs on her such as replacing a servo and have sewn the mainsail onto the gaff to be more authentic and added some sail ties to the mast. The sail sets nicely.
Im looking at how I can remove the boom as Bawley's did not have them. ..I have a plan that seems to work on dry land quite well when tested but there is too much friction with the existing fittings so need to go a bit further...
...Basically I am trying to make a traveller that works correctly so the sail is pulled down from the lee rail, not the centre of the transom.
For now and for quite a while I think she will remain to have a boom...
