Have now received WTC from Nautilis Drydocks...a long process...held up with Customs...a few more components to be had and still a lot more research...need to get this right...my first sub....looking forward to commencing soon....but research, research, research...

Skipjack Class....being an Australian...seemed only natural.
Did no research on origins of class name, you could be on the right track ?
The only other Skipjack I've put together is a small plastic static model, about 18 months ago....not many components, two hull halves, one sail, prop and periscope.

No......I wouldn't have the confidence...I'm not a scratch builder, more of an assembler.....
At this stage I'm still learning a lot about subs, my background is planes and ARF, so my build skills are on the low side.
Have been surface skimming for a year, and thought I'd explore the complexity of going deep.
Could all end up at the bottom of the lake....literally !

A WTC is a Water Tight Cylinder, housing receiver, esc, servo's, battery, motor etc. Comprising generally of 3 watertight compartments, one being the ballast tank.

Christmas present to myself, one Revell - Skipjack 1/72 scale, to be converted to RC. Needed to purchase second hand transmitter 36mghz JR unit....ordering WTC from Nautilus Drydocks in the states...going to be a slow process...but rewarding.
Have already built a smaller version of the Skipjack Class.

Crew posting to Tug, still in dry dock and more crew to be completed and fixed to deck, limited room, but at least 2 more to go......still to be maidened, happy with subtle weathering....not over the top...fender soaked in some tea bags for a week....satisfactory end result...

Crew billets still to be decided, awaiting delivery of seamen gunners for 50cals, however pilot in wheelhouse with some passengers aboard.
Drivers and opo in truck to be completed, vehicle is also rc, so can be driven off when ramp lowered at designated location.

Just received new addition to the fleet.
I am a lazy bugger....not a scratch builder....but very impressed after opening the box...all intact...Will look just a treat approaching the shore, dropping the ramp and unloading the Sherman...no troops running ashore with this one. 😎

No problem....Will be posting a report at each stage of progress.....my problem is too many interests and not enough time...RC is a fun hobby, it's addictive and diverse.. I myself fly planes and Rockets, driveTanks, and are now getting into boats and soon Subs, as well as riding a bike..and in between working and other aspects of life.....never grew up I guess.....😎

Thanks for the feedback, yes I have been scouring over loads of YouTube material recently. First priority is to get her in the drink and just get a feel for her...I may just leave the tx & rx as is or RIP it all out and set up on my own tx...Will be adding a little weathering and crew members soon...it will be my primary recovery vessel if required as well a fun boat to drive....

Latest addition to the fleet. Southampton Tug Boat, modelled on the Wyeforce. However battery compartment very small, as mentioned on a youtube upgrade, lifted main deck and removed battery housing from bow, generates a lot more room for a bigger battery....more to follow...maiden shortly....😎

Images show basic detail, 1/18 scale, with crew. Bow gunner servo is linked to rudder. Comes with Navlights, looking forward to a night sail.....some painting added to weather craft, as well as painting radar housing a lighter grey....and the canvas roof over wheel house....a little artistic licence with vessel numbers......Brown Navy did'nt always have numbered vessels....but could'nt help myself.

Proboat Aplha - ready to run.......model of Patrol Boat Riverine used by US Navy, Vietnam between 1967-72. Basic 1/18 scale able to attach small action figures for added dimension, model always look better with crew.
Great starter....already looking at larger scale military kits and really impressed with Deans Marine product range, unfortunatly little options to explore in Australia....so have to order most stuff in....vids will get better with experience...stay tuned.😉
