HMCS Sackville post-WWII Canadian Research Vessel
Yes, it is a Revell kit like so many others who have built a Corvette, but this one involves no armour.
During my research I found a book that it is not available in my library however, I could drive into Toronto and see the copy in the Toronto research library. I chose to try and contact the author. He kindly wrote me and has given me advice on this โkit-bashingโ project.
He told me the model represents the
โSnowberry, which was one of ten built in Canada on British contract to British design, so the stern was not modified for minesweepingโ, said Dr. Milner
Sackville is different, I was told by Dr. Milner, that โif you are going to build Sackville you need to know that the stern of the Airfix kit is wrong for the first 54 Canadian built corvettes. These all had a wide โduck tailโ stern to accommodate minesweeper gear โ way too complex and problematic to kitbash.
The deck clomber differed from ship to ship according to the practice of the yard, the program, and type of boiler โ water tube, fire tube, pressurized boiler room etcโฆโ
I have been doing lots of research and have found some photos to assist me with this project. It requires changes to the โkitโ and making parts that resemble the photos. I know there will be things that are missing plus that over the 20+ years, the ship went through several structural changes and refits.
The photos show the two different stern images and how I modified the kit to create a โduck tailโ.
Other photos are of the revised superstructure for steerage. Noteworthy are the extended deck and addition of ladders/steps. Handrails will be added.
RC conversion will be forthcoming.

Thanks to those who responded about Deanโs Kit
You may recall James May asked about having someone build his Deanโs kit of the HMS BRONNINGTON for his dad? I responded with questions about the kit and after consulting others with experience building them, itโs not one I could do. It requires someone who knows how to use photo etched parts.
Another is James wanted to make an RC model, but this kit is only 18โ in length and has a 3 3/8โ beam which is very tight for a twin screw kit. Not for a novice, operator.
Sorry but better to check out a kit before buying and then afterwards seeing your dream is more difficult than first thought.

Question
Is this Nozzle mounted to the rudder? It doesnโt look to be surrounding the prop as other nozzles do.

Test Floats - Sea Trials
I took my three winter builds up the street to my neighbours pool. Tug Miss Katherine, Vosper, and Folk sailboat
Ballast was good on all three. I had my Forward/Reverse power controls set-up opposite to what I prefer but those were just minor adjustments.
Surprised that the Vosper requires a larger turning radius, though I did not give it much power in that small pool, especially on the first test out of the bathtub.
Rather hard to take photos and control at the same time. I took a couple videos too but they did not turn out very well.
It is a small outdoor pool, but for my first test float, it was perfect for me. No swimming was required!!
