    Thanks Guys, for the response
Ive bought a 2-1 gearbox, and may go with a smaller prop, currently a 40 mm triple course one, (no idea of pitch)
i also think, theres no escape for heat in the engine room, posh word for electric motor area!! so perhaps some ventilation is required as well, so a PC fan, has been nicked, to aid in exporting heat

    Thank you for the reply,
But if the 540 is a 4.5-15v motor, (it says that on the motor) how can a constant 12v be a problem?

I would like a gearbox, but have no idea of were to get one, unless i make it,

    Hi,

Yep, its direct drive, and the prop is quite coarse, but weirdly, i was thinking more akin to a 2-1 motor to prop gearbox, to relieve the moto speed but increase the prop speed,

but what do i know. obviously, NOTHING !

I had problems with my first run out with the Raf Launch a few weeks ago, as i mullered the motor, and the ESc, smelt burnt, so binned both items,

Its now running a 540 motor (4.5-15v motor)
    A 12v ESC, and a 11.1 Lipo,

Todays running on water, was pretty sedate, at full throttle, almost disappointing! yet after 10 mins of motoring about it was down on power, so i brought her back and the motor was BURNING hot, ESC and battery seemed fine,

Im surprised the motor was THAT HOT, as at max it was only 11.1-12v max

So, do i need water cooling ? or a gearbox to offload some of the 540 speed to the prop ?

and to cap off a miserable day, one of my lift vests fell of the roof of the boat and sunk !!!
    so we came home, hahahahaha

I would like to add to my question about Bilge pumps. that in my RAF style launch, the water ingress problem has stopped
One, as i filled the mainshaft tube with vaselaine, but probably more so, that i sloshed clear varnish around the inside of the hull in all compartments, let it dry, and did the same again,

I now as of today, have NO water ingress at all,

I was in the same position, as yourself only two months ago, as im an Rc plane flyer, and the winds were too strong to fly, So i refurbished my late Grandfathers boat, to a sea fairing, ok, pond muddling Rc boat
i found a local club, (Millpond Crawley Sussex, UK) and with there website, knew what days they meet,

I met up with said members, and with a freebie, sailed my launch with their permission, and joined the club two days later

Now for me, as an RC flyer (and a bad one at that) i am fully aware, that insurance is paramount, and randomly sailing a boat, or whatever, without insurance, is not a very wise thing to do !

For the sake of a Β£20 fee, with insurance, its a no brainer

I pumped vasaline into the tube on my launch, using a large syringe, i also epoxied my propeller to the shaft

but i am a newbie to this side of RC stuff, as normally a flyer, so if ive done, or given bad advice, then i will take one on my knuckles

    Hi All

I know this is a Boat forum, and i do own two boats, as in
an RAF tender, and a Dragon RG65 yacht (i kept quiet about and should put it in my harbour)

But what hovercraft? as my main hobby is RC planes, so a plane and a boat combined is one, Ish,
ive done the helicopter stuff, and its not for me,

Ive built a hovercraft, that does hover, and go forward, left and right, but more akin to my heli flying, as basically, out of control !!

But i have a burning desire, to build an SRN-1 and ive even bought the plans!

Have i now been out cast to the outer edge of humanity, and into the weeds ?

    Just saying

    regards

Adamcraft model, built by Grandfather in the 1950's,
Repurposed and fettled to a running boat 07/2022

It is NOT a scale model, its just to represent, a 1940-50's Raf seaplane/recovery tender

    Ive found the manufacture!

My boat is most definitely an Adamcraft model, that were produced from 1947-1955, apparently very rare??
So it fits dates wise with my Grandfather building her in the 1950's

A link to a page describing her, and details below

    Hi all

Does any one fit a bilge pump, in their models?, as i seem to be able to get a nice amount of water, but no fish after a 15min blast round the lake, i say nice amount of water, but more like 1/2 a coffee cup worth, but its a pig to get out, so i might have to fit a drain hole, as in dummy exhausts to let it out

Thanks for the reply, and my model certainly fits within the Vosper style
and that was mentioned at my local club, however, by the time i got home had forgotten it !!

Ive modeled it loosely on an RAF Channel launch

I had looked at Veron, and Kielkraft kits from years ago, and found similar, but never exactly the same layout

Maybe one of you Guys will know

    Hi to all,

Ive just repurposed a Motor launch, that my Grandfather made, we believe in the 1950's, Attached, should be a pic off the said boat, that was given to me around 1970 (Aged 10)
i did re vamp, around 30 years ago to get it looking smarter with the intention of water worthy, although that didn't progress much past some fresh paint

Well now, it is, and revamped into a style of RAF Coastal patrol boat, not to any scale representation, but more of a combination of many craft, from the 1940's era
its also fully rc, and maidened last week

I would like to know, what the kit or boat is, as ive done numerous search's, but nothing comes up that is the exact body style, with the 4 side windows

    Regards

    Steve m
