If there’s anyone who lives near Newcastle area and intrested in a boat to keep you occupied over the winter a friend who I got my huntsman off is selling his other boat if anyone’s interested will pass over details think he’s wanting around £100 for it so will let him know if anyone’s intrested I did travel to him from Carlisle and he’s a nice guy to get on with

That was my downfall Chrisf I’ve got a few stored in computer but decided I was going to make the cabin out of the two best ones I liked but when I did it the first time didn’t like the little frames I did was a bit too much so made it a little subtle which I’m happy with it now

So the other day I spent well shall I say throwing in the bin two days work wasn’t really happy with what I had done ie cabin doors and frames a bit over thoughtfull too many ideas came out a bit too much so last two days re doing the cabin doors hopefully better than the first one one learning by my mistakes and trying not to over think stuff as well as look after the new after her op

So after a few days off got back to some work on the cabin after a few ideas and putting together a frame and doors and then taking the hike thing apart as I wasn’t happy with my first frame work and doors finished up with this and a two cupboards for each side of the cabin still a long way to go but not bad I think after 3 days

Well after a couple of weeks blood sweat tears tantrums and a couple of choice swear words and a great help off a few on here I think it’s getting like a Huntsman I’m not completely happy with my second paint spray job in my life but I think compared to when I first brought the big tug home I’m hopefully doing it justice time for a few days off now to look after the mrs after her op

So today went well cut two templates to use as backing on the rear of the side vents to stick in place with two bolts in the back to go through the side of top cabin to make it easier for removal if I ever need to do any work on it Colin’s fault lol gave me idea to use bolts so it’s easy access in future to take off

So todays task is seat and base backs with backing to side vents with bolts on the back to screw in place so it’s easier to take off in the future blame someone on here for giving me that idea in the beginning but Suppose it makes it easier to take off if needs be

Not bad to say this is probably the second time in my life I’ve praypainted anything don’t think I’ve done too bad but looks better than the last paint job and the dark colour is just what I wanted not too light and not too dark thanks everyone for the comments means a lot for my first big project I know it’s not perfection but I’m working on it

Well that went better than I thought and I know it’s not perfection for most but it’s an old bettered boat and next year needs completely sanded down to perfection the sides were badley scared but it reflects on how old it is so after 6 coats I’m happy with it will put some lacquer on next to bring the paint out

Well two coats of Humbrol midnight blue and think I like the colour better than navy blue I got last week will use the navy blue on the boat stand instead of waisting it in the bin

So managed to get two rattle tins of midnight blue Humbrol paint from one of our model shops bit of a drive but glad I went back to see what else they do as most of our model shops up here in Cumbria are just model train related so hopefully get some paint on today

Thanks Colin yes I’m going to do that with the cabin aswell after I’ve fitted the windscreen all the way round the edge of the top of cabin and just on the inside with two metal grab rails just small and the back and front hatches for doors as well got loads of ideas now off everyone on here

So after a few days off looking after the mrs after her operation and trying to decide on paint colour even tho I already bought 3 tins of navy blue still not sure if I should go with midnight blue having taken all the windows back off and re painting so I could get the top sanded and primed ready for paint I’m still not convinced mavy blue is the way to go so while I make up my mind got two strips of mahogany for the top of the boat we’re the two parts meet just to make it a bit different hope I’m doing this right lol seemed like a good idea at the time before I mask off and paint

They did have a tendency to leak a little water where the mast fixes into the hull if able to take undo the mast and keel and have a look inside the mast support inside with a torch mine had a minor crack in that point but manged to get a little glue on the crack and it’s never leaked since other than that submerge in bath and do the old puncture repair test look for any bubbles popping up

Already took the window frames back off and gave it a good sanding down ,had about 4 coats of blue,1 red ,and primer was pretty thick not suppriesd when I saw bits cracked and pitted under all that paint so treated it to some wood filler and will put primer on today will post pics later another trip to hospital with the mrs as she had major surgery on her foot Monday so been looking after her instead of the boat lol

Just a quick question guys doing some more refurb on the huntsman today took the white panel wood off the sides from front side windows to the back as it wasn’t what I wanted even thou it looked ok but a bit cracked so going to sand it all down and take the windows off and get some white primer before painting so to the question ,midnight blue or Oxford blue which is the correct colour to use I know a few have done there own but just wanted it to look correct to original

Thanks Roy for the advice going to try get a sheet of thin metal I’ve seen in B+Q it’s pretty thin so going to cut template if screen out and make the window frame on both sides of the screen then hopefully bend them both to match the back and front of the screen then stick to top of hull long way off that yet lol white metal fittings kit next
