Re Peter if you go on the fairey marine website that builds the boats it gives you a list of all the boats and what they should look like , pretty good read actually and gives you run down of everything on each boat ie colours size and some cabin pics it’s helped me out well with a lot of help from Chris f and a few

Hull sanding went as well as I hoped and did find two bad splits just under the nose filled with ronseal wood filler and sanded to an inch of its life but pretty sound as didn’t find all as bad as I thought

Few more hours on the huntsman today got the bow rail pulpit sanded with wet and dry and polished and just dry fit in place and new roof grab rails dry fit ,still got to shave a few mill off the windscreen and the rear swim ladder finshed so not doing too bad to say what it looked like when I first bought the old boat

I know what you mean Ive not done a lot to the huntsman just a bit now and again been painting my fence and the front garden while the weathers been nice as for decking lights I was going to get proper decking lights but found some rock spotlights on Facebook that the person had never used ,2 sets for £25 so manged to get the wires into. The summer house ,then spotted the colour changing ones on Facebook for £10 the lad said they were red which I thought I would just get different coloured bulbs ,but when we got home we found out the changed colours on app on phone will try put pics on,only problem I had was as you said few of board were getting old and rotted but just changed for new deck screws and got them all back into place

Chris f lol mate I’ve only got this build but been preoccupied with garden project getting all the decking lights in and led colour changing lights on my bigger decking so I’m on with like 3 different things manged to solder the bow rails tho will put pics on tomorrow think I’ve cracked this solder lark

Well that went well ,knew I would uncover some bad points but altogether it’s pretty straight few bits need glueing back in as whoever made the boat just tacked it together without sealing it ,Paint revomel always uncovers hidden problems but glad I did it

Re to pre tining Ian do you mean little bit of solder on each part that I’m trying to solder together as went to pick the pulpit off today and not very good connection between each joints so need to re do them again

So today’s challenge to make the bowrail (pulpit ) after a few days of trying my best to make the rear swim ladder and now I’ve got the hang of soldering thought I would make the new rail today don’t think I’ve done to bad just needs a clean up now as the old one was plastic and snapped while transporting home when I first bought it ,and hand rails new to replace old ones on the roof sections

So last couple of days has ended in this finish ,I hope it’s up to scratch as it’s my very first time soldering ,after making a jig well an old sale board with a couple of holes in to keep the frame straight and a few washers and bits of wood finally think I’m getting the hang of soldering ,bit of clean up to do but I’m pleased

Thanks for all the help guys yesterday I went to a hobby shop and got brass rods instead ,I did want the clean silver look but would probably look nice all in brass instead as I’ve never really soldered before but have had ago last couple of days and worked out what to do so hopefully should look ok I hope ,my uncle was showing me how to do everything I’ve learnt so far but he past away last year and never got that far with me so everyone’s help has been great and have taken onboard and hopefully I can learn to do this I have watched a few videos on YouTube but there seems to be only one that’s related to what I want to do and it was brass work so that mite be the easiest option but so long as I don’t mess up I got flux but it was like a liquid and not paste as it was on videos I’ve watched but does it work the same if done properly I feel pretty disheartened after all the work I’ve put into it wanting it to look like my uncles old boat to have to rip everything off that’s stainless steel and to do it in brass as the easy option as the only way to do it

Thanks RNinmunich did think I needed something extra heat but was just thinking as I didn’t want it looking brassy I mite just use brass and use my chrome paint on top so everything looks the sam but did want it looking nice and shiney all the way will have to have a good think after I’ve learnt how to solder

Jumpugly sharp is the word till I sanded it all down last night and now nice and dull to the touch just a bit of fettling to do then what to stick the plastic screen onto the metal with was going to use double sided clear tape instead of glue

Hot guys just after a little help ,I picked this soldering kit up yesterday on Facebook and for the money not bad ,as I’ve never used one before I was going to try and I know it mite seem a daft question but I have some stainless steel long rods which to be honest was just an old grait out of a cooker but never been used and did try and solder together but do you have to use different types of solder wire for different types of metal ,I know it would be probably easy just to use brass but did want silver so that’s why I chose to do them on the roof of the huntsman as rails but wanted to get the same result on front part of boat like in picture

So that was a productive 2 days with the project windscreen frame it’s taken one muck up to get the final frame right with a little dremmel fix here in the there and not bad what you can do with a £14,99 pedal bin from the range

Huy guys been off for while with one thing and another but health problems haven’t done me good but garden decking got me for a while and building summer house ,so back on with the huntsman decided last time when I sent off for the new windscreen I would try and make a metal frame for the window and after trolling everywhere found a stainless steel pedal bin at the range and took it all to bits last night will have to buy some tin snips and see how this goes and trying my hand at soldering this weekend will see how this progresses

Thanks everyone was going to get 3 bladed prop anyway as the Vosper had 4 bladed prop and was a little smaller than the 47 huntsman I know a few have put 4 bladed but was making sure I was choosing the right prop and 3 it is from howes models as need to get the 18 in shaft and coupling as well so I can get that fixed I place to get the bottom re painted

Just my only dilemma if it is one is here we go 3 or 4 blade prop I’ve got a good idea which will be picked but unsure it’s just when you get different ideas off different sites it gets a bit confusing on it being the best for my boat I know 3 blade prop from howes models I’ve had before and was going to get the same my Vosper had as it did a good job of cruising and not warp speed like most of my club members like think I’ve found the motor Chris thunder tiger on Pegasus models gives a list of what other people bought with the 47 kit I saw the batteries and nearly passed out but if it does the old girl justice after 2 years resto on and off then that would be a good choice
