Colin. it`s Willy again. Have a look at the safehavenmarine.com real boat web site. This Irish based company builds fast survey / fishing and pilot boats. Although some have a "Whaleback" deck line, you might get some ideas, Oh, just one word of warning, you will find it very hard to leave this web site as it is a mass of video footage of their boats on test and in service.

It looks a little like a home made scratch built Vosper Gas Turbine private motor yacht that was built on a similar hull to the Brave Borderer class hulls. Cant remember the name of the boat but you could buy a plastic motorised model of it probably by Victory industries

Hi.
I would suggest that you research, and consider a pair of smallish, if you are firm on using two, brush less motors using lipo batteries. You will save a lot of weight and have an abundance of power depending upon set up. I have a scratch built 34 inch ply semI scale cruiser (See picture in my profile when running with Ic engine) now fitted with a Turnigy 750KV High Torque Outrigger and it is 50% quicker than with previous motor an OS 35 (4.86cc) engine. My pal and I are fitting this same Turnigy Brush Less motor to our 34 inch Vosper Fireboats. I once had an MFA 850 in a ply 49 inch Perkasa and it planed fine so two in a boat at 30 inches could be excessive.
Regards
Willy

Hi.
Firstly I need to correct a typo, I meant to say "additional Marking of parts" not making. Also, my pal re-advised me that, it was the front SIDE skins and not the bottom fronts that required major reshaping. The bottom fronts, as you said, were fine requiring minor fettling to fit. The compound curves were an issue but he managed to resolve by heavy duty clamping.May post some pictures when figured out how to do so!

A friend of mine has also purchased a kitshack 34 inch fireboat and came across the same side deck and coaming height issue but he has also come across a few more. The plywood motor mount, E1, the piece with the tongue, is over sized longitudinally so needs to be cut shorter so as to rest on the sloping bearer to achieve the correct prop angle. An aluminium motor mount was through bolted to E1 prior to gluing in place. The forward bottom hull skins, as supplied, were well off from being the correct shape if they were going to butt up to aft skins so had to be drastically reshaped rather than sanding or slight trimming to fit.The side wheel house window as in item S2 has been cut to incorrect size / shape which means that wheel house rear bulkhead S11 intrudes into the window cut out.The precut ply roof panels for forward and aft superstructures have been cut the wrong way of the grain and will be difficult, if not Impossible, (they cannot be turned the other way)to bend over the curved formers. My friend has suggested that a reworking of the build instructions, additional making of parts, both actually on the timber or on the supplementary part identification sheets, would make this a very rewarding kit to build.
