    Maybe too heavy canvass for such little sail,inappropriate cut.
    Try using a lighter material and instead of sewing, stick the edges of the sails with double-sided tape. You can find many instructions online.

    Have you thought about adding a topping lift to the jib boom? Make it adjustible with a bowsie. You could tune the draft of the jib. the RG/DF65's use it (port side view)

    smart axx answer. Change the cut of the jib,

    Maybe, increase the curve (roach) of the jib. Increase the curvature in the luff of the sail. or both. Change the curvature (draft) of the sail by adjusting the tension on the jib
