The USA first attempt at a stealth vessel. A trial vessel that was also used in the James Bond film "Tomorrow Never Dies". Difficult to buildl; it has a SWATH (Small Water-plane Area Twin Hull) design. Which attracted me to its building. The twin hulls are made from two sizes of plastic kitchen waste pipes and a carved hardwood prow. The twin contra-rotating propellors work indipendently - like steering a Tank; very much like my Vitse Admiral Popov. Wonderful to steer and see the turns it makes. Magic! Although scrapped it led the way in technology for the USS Zumwald.
Very nicely executed ! Im intrigued by models that use differential steering as our venues on the shores of Lake Ontario are often clogged with weeds by early July. Two questions. Do her props break the surface of the water when at high speed? You mention the use of "plastic drain pipe", I can't quite read the print on the bare pipe in your pix. What is its internal diameter? Your pipe is off-white, we use a similar PVC pipe here in Ontario for supply, not waste, I'm using 3/4" to build a launch/retrieve cradle. Thankyou for posting so many excellent-quality pictures. Well done post !! of a beautiful model !!
