Chris.
Coming along nicely. Iโm sure Noahโs booking slots. Keep at it. Regards Bill ๐ PS. Now that the Strictly Come Dancing season is back perhaps you could put all the contestants in the Ark as well, then open the bilge vents.Gives me another excuse to dive into the model shed ๐๐ ▲

Hi Chris.
With all the rain and floods we have had here in the last week I could have done with your ark. Good work ๐๐ Regards Bill ▲

If you have a steam wall paper stripper and some tube you can make up a steamer. Thereโs a video of mine in the link below, for the thickness youโd be using it wouldnโt take long in steam.

Try using a piece of plastic pipe, sealed at one end.
Fill with household Ammonia. Drop your planking in and leave to soak. Take the planking out and bend to the shape and secure until to dry and it should remain in the shape profile. You will need to experiment depending on the plank thickness but a good rule is about 30 minutes soaking, although longer will not cause any damage to the planking. Easier than steaming. Hope this helps ▲

Hi Dogle, I like your idea.
There are certainly no plans left for the Ark, so you can make the model however you want. I like your interpretation. ▲

I have built two Arks. The 1st, in the Pennsylvania-Dutch toy style. I took a slab, 2x12 construction timber (spruce), pointed both ends. Stained mid-dark mahogany or walnut. Applied 3/8-square bulwarks. A simple rectangular cabin superstructure with gable ends fore/aft, arched door on one side. Slab roof halves, 1 fastened, the other hinged. 3/4" pine. Pairs of critters power-fretsawn, shellaced & varnished. Sorry, no pix, it was the late 80s. The second, set bandsaw angle to 12 degrees, cut an elongated spiral in 3/4 pine. When pulled vertically it locks into the shape of a planked hull.

Brilliant idea - and nobody can say you are wrong with whatever you decide to build!
Not sure though that Noah had access to an aircraft carrier as a donor hull! ▲
