Hello Ross and Rogal, If you get fed up with the fishing shop you can see an assortment of all these bits online at either Nylett or sailsetc they have both seen it all before and have a wealth of experience and concentrate on supplying model yacht sailors. Cheers ChrisG

Thanks for that RossM. Thatโs eased my mind, great minds think alike, I wish you every success. To nice to know what others do. The fishing warehouse nearby was an Aladdinโs cave, I spent an hour just looking for the right bits. It was worse than being in a model shop. Iโm glad I donโt fish, Iโd spend more than I do now on my boats. Great fun though, itโs another world thereโs more electronics than model boating has!.โต๐ค

The reason I ask is that I believe that I am going down the same path you are already on. 0.8mm 7 strand plastic coated fishing wire
photo #1 lower part of picture is jewelry chain that is very close to anchor chain. Above are the coils of fishing line I recognized from your photos
photo #2 fishing line clips and a mock up/test of the rigging anchoring. the bottom wood representing the hull. I hung 20kg weight on this for a few months in the corner of the shop, no problems, so your 1mm line is perfectly adequate
photo #3 I was warned away from using twisted line, as it may kink up over time. I found braided line at the drapery supply, very smooth running through the pulleys
photo #4 is the end of it
Everything you have looks great!

Hello Rogal Don`t sell yourself short if you sail half as well as you build boats you have nothing to worry about. When you get to the water take your time, listen to all the advice you will get as some of it will be worth listening to and remember most of us talk a good sail. We are all like the fisherman who caught the biggest pike in the lake but had to put it back before getting a photograph. I hope you enjoy sailing it is such fun and adds a totally new dimension to model boats and the wind is free๐ All the best ChrisG

Good afternoon RossM. Thanks for your comments. As I mentioned in earlier posts Iโm winging this. whether I am using the correct methods Iโm not sure, the proof will be in the sailing and usage. I know there are far more experienced riggers and sailors than I can ever hope to be, I have a fear that everything will collapse in a tangled heap in the middle of the pond the first time the wind blows on the sails. But we will see, I shall not be racing sheโs just for my potterings. At one point I even considered not fitting full sails and having a dummy set stowed on the booms and just using the motor to chug in and out of our ponds harbours, in fact I am still going to go down that route, as our pond is only about the size of 2 tennis courts. All the rigging is fixed using turnbuckles on the deck and very small fishing swivels at the masts. The rigging is stainless 7 strand plastic coated 1mm fishing line held in place with again fishing crimps, used when making pike lures up. Apparently, Iโm not a fisherman either. Hereโs a photo of the components I used hope it helps. Regards Roger

Good morning Tony. Thanks for your interest, all the mast fittings have been made by myself using 1mm sheet brass plate. To suit the mast sizes, once these had been glued and shaped from blanks supplied by fellow model boater Roycv. I had no working drawings, I just worked from pictures in the Inga instructions sent to me by Frankiesays1953 another modelboater, what a great set of modellers you are. The help ,encouragement, inspiration and knowledge I have found on this site has been fantastic, I thank each and every one of you world wide.
