Lew, I was hoping to get an airport within that 40 miles, but the US charter flights are more expensive than the UK flights, roughly about $300k more.
But like one commentator said on the Leamington cancellation, the show did not attract visitors to benefit the sponsors resulting in less sponsors which attracted less visitors. It's a catch 22.

Even if with 200 free flights, I doubt I would get enough interest.
You are very right though. Our "Biggest" club is 900 miles away, and they declined a national show a few years ago. What is funny though, when it comes to DF95 racing, there does not seem to be a "distance" issue.
And with the new changes in EU travel, things aren't looking much better.
Unfortunately for me, I am an eternal optimist.

Too bad. As per previous discussions on this site I was wondering how you would be able to achieve an epic event. In this area people usually don't travel over 40 miles for model boating.

I always look for new model shows on YouTube, especially boats and more specific RC.

It is with slight disappointment that we have to inform you all that we have decided to cancel the event. Only 2 of the 35 model boat clubs in the UK showed signs of life, but not sufficient to warrant a £1 million project.

Given the commentary on the cancellation of the IMBS 2023 UK in Leamington, I won't blame anyone for saying "I told you so!".
