Interestingly its also called a screw conveyor and a auger. We used it extensively in the fish meal production processes to pump raw fish from the boat to the cookers. In Woliie's photos you will also see a dewatering reel. Water and solids are separated by pumping it through a screw which has a sieve on the outer tube.
