Two Mast Gaff Rigged Hampton Boat
My first scale model boat. Plank on Frame. Double planked with Mahogany outer. Sealed with Clear Epoxy resin. Fitted with lights, nav lights, anchor winch and a bilge pump. (Slightly modified wheelhouse)
A link to the plans on Pinterest is below. I added one more rib to the mid section and moved the fore mast to the aft.

Two Sea Queens
I mentioned the Sea Rover Earlier. These two Sea Queens I picked up a few years ago. Both are still in existence. I own the smaller one in front. The 46" was sold. It had a 4 stroke Gannet Engine in, which was taken out and it now runs with a 550 electric which is way under powered.
The 32" in front is to become a "Wedding Boat" and rented out for weddings. The idea is to change the roof colours to match the colours of the bride, and the couple's name will be on the side near the bow.

Kingfisher
Built in 1992 in Walvis Bay, Namibia, this scale replica of the real Kingfisher is a work of art. Plank on Frame construction and fitted with working nav lights.
Easy to operate - but a major challenge to launch.

Azure Spirit
Another unique model.
3D Printed outboard motor with remote trim and tilt.
Pilot turns his head to see where he's going and the lady waves at the spectators.
Other than being fast and slippery, this model is 1:10 scale.
Trailer and Crawler donations welcome.
See trim and tilt in trial stage:

RV Northern Observer
This is one of the most complex models I have built. From an original Tug, this Research Vessel is equipped with a working gantry and winch, and a port side crane. It is capable of lowering a FPV submarine off the stern, and a shark cage with a diver inside off the port side.
It has a leak in the prop shaft, but a bulk head contains the water in the aft of the hull. A float switch activates the bilge pump (or harsh braking) It has internal, deck and nav lights. An FPV Camera on the bridge and runs on three sets of batteries.
Internal cabin lights can be turned on remotely, but bridge lights are manually turned on.
It has an Amber strobe light for diving operations and a remotely controlled PA system for announcements and warnings.
Power supply:
1. 12V SLA for motor
2. 12V SLA for bilge pump
3. 6V SLA for Lights and RX
Scale is 1:48

Hi Model Boaters ๐
Please help me out. I am looking for an International Association / Federation that represents RC Boating. I have all the Model Power Boat / Radio Sailing Associations and Naviga. I'm looking for something similar to the latter but with an actual contact person / number to contact for collaboration in Africa.

Does anyone know where I can get airsoft gun mechanisms? I have a patrol boat with a front mounted browning and like to make it shoot for real. Ive seen the guys in Oz going nuts with their war games and love the idea. Want to shoot holes in hulls of other boats that annoys me. ๐

I recently found the cheap Chinese fairy lights a quick and easy solution for internal and deck lighting. You can lay them out and cut off the excess wire and they work for hours with watch batteries. At ยฃ1 a string its worth it. Then its merely a matter of connecting a microservo to the switch and you have remote on/off functioning. Some sets even have multicolour. Quite fun to work with. ๐

@Roycv. Yes I was glued to the tv screen when that show came on. Back then it was more about the discoveries. It was only until recently that I paid attention to the Calypso itself. Not a boat I want in my fleet. Looks like a well kept Taiwanese trawler with extra Chile sauce. Or as we call it in SA. Steak. Switches Tricks and other crappies

On my RV Northern Explorer I have a stern gantry to lower a submarine into the water. I always looked at this critter but had my doubts as to its longevity. Another drawback for my application is it doesnt have an onboard camera. At the moment I have a GroPro housing converted to look like a submarine but its horribly bulky. Thanks for sharing

It was actually the RMS Olympia that sank. The rivets used in the Titanic was taken from the stock of the Olympia which was later found to have been substandard quality causing the ship to shear open.

On the issue of history written by the victor, I have this pet belief that the truth or facts are merely the best bull dust story acceptable by the majority of the population. By mutual and often tacit consent, it then becomes the unmistakable truth. In short if you tell the same lie long enough, it becomes the truth.
