Hi Chris, Yes, on both parts. Then once you apply a little heat the solder will melt and run togther. In some cases you not need to add any more solder to the joint. Sorry if I didn't make myself clearer in the fist instance. Cheers Ian

Yes, tinning is applying a thin coat of solder to the area which needs to be meticulously clean otherwise the solder won't take and the joint will pull apart.

Looks great and fits the part well. With soldering I have learnt that pre-tinning the mating parts makes for the final solder job so much easier. As I said before make up some sort of support to hold it together so all you need to worry about is soldering the joint and not have it moving around. Good luck. Cheers Ian

I did the plumbing in the kitchen some years ago with a bigger one but when I did some more recently I chickened out and used compression fittings!

The pulpit rails are something to do outside on a still day I think! ๐Ÿ˜

That's a nice job on the pulpit rail. Just the rear quarters and swim ladder, and you're good to go. Nice work ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Š

Nice job. That's something I've got to do but I've got 4 to do! The only soldering I've done is to wiring so it's going to be a first for me as well. I bought a small gas torch and some brass rod etc. sometime ago in readiness!
