Pat, what voltage are you going to run in the boat?
I have 12v LED lights you could fit into those pods

    Hi Alessandro

I have yet to take it apart to see what the exact story is, there are in fact 8 lamps the 6 you see on the from of the doat and there are two on the cabling that goes over the propeller by the pilots head making 8 - I though if I got two spares it would cover everthing.
My understanding from the guy that sold it was that the lights are 6volt and he accidentally connected them to 11.1v Lipo battery.

Will let you know more next week.

    Cheers

Hi Pat, do you know what the correct voltage was?
    What should it have been?

For a correct replacement, you should know the correct voltage, the LED amperage, and whether there are resistors between the LEDs and the power supply (or whether there's a driver).
It's also essential (and I can't tell from the photo) to understand whether the LEDs are connected in series or in parallel.

Let's say you don't know the answers to these questions.
In this situation, if I were you, I'd decide on your own which types of LEDs to install and which power supply to choose.
However, you also need to determine whether they're in series or parallel. Just look at the wiring connections. I'll help you if you need it.

So, if the LED holders are openable, I'd open them and choose (from any e-commerce site) the appropriately sized LED.
    So the size comes first.
There's definitely something suitable on the market.

Then I need to decide what amperage.

The electronic ones (more for signaling than lighting) have a current draw ranging from 15 to 18 mA, with voltage drops of 2 to 3 volts.
These have the advantage of drawing very little current (15 to 18 mA if connected in series, 150 to 180 mA if ten in parallel).
So, for the same battery life, you can use small batteries (not many Ah are necessary).
You can opt for mixed situations, for example, two groups of five LEDs (in series) connected in parallel, or, for example, five groups of two LEDs (in series).
The disadvantage of these LEDs is that they are not very bright.

If you want high-brightness LEDs, you have to deal with higher current draw; for example, there are 100 mA, 300 mA, or even 700 mA ones.
    I think 100 mA is already a lot, and with a parallel connection you'd draw 1000 mA (1 A). Quite a lot, I think.

    How do you handle soldering?

If you tell me the maximum weight and size of the battery, I can make you a diagram that might be right for you.

P.S. I only see six bulbs in the photo. With six bulbs instead of ten, everything is much simpler.
We have many advantageous combinations (battery-powered LEDs).

    Morning Shippers

Recently aquired a model Swamp boat - not my normal kind of RC model but I thought it maybe fun once in a while. However, it seem the previous owner connected a battery of the wrong voltage and blew all the lights on it :-( Been looking for replacements but can not find any thing like them or as small as they are. Anyone any ideas where I might source say 10 of these lamps for replacement.

    Thanking you in advance

    Pat
