First of all, EXUBERENT is not a spelling mistake but a "difference" made by the owner of the actual vessel as there was another craft registered, named with the original spelling.

This boat was lost at sea with it's Skipper back in 1982 off the south coast of England. I had originally intended to build a static model of this boat but due to it's demise it never got completed and now I wish to complete it as an RC model. it's scale overall length is 32" with an 11" beam.

The model hull was produced by Cygnus Marine and apart from that everything else has to be built from scratch.

I was wondering if anybody else who had built a similar craft could give me a few pointers as to the electrical layout, motor size, shaft size etc.

I am a complete RC rookie and would appreciate any hard earned knowledge that you would care to share with me.

    Spencer. (AKA. Alan.)

The RC model of the Cygnus 32 I am building needs to have sky blue coloured antifoul lookalike paint applied to the hull. Has anybody got any ideas where I can get this matt paint or how I can achieve the effect please !

    Hi figtree 7nts

Thanks for the advice I fixed myself up with Humbrol matt French Blue. The boat I am building the model of had blue antifoul so it was important to replicate that.

    Thanks anyway ๐Ÿ‘

Well! We're making progress. No the wheelhouse is not floating in mid air it's balancing on a transparent ruler ! Deck shelf in, motor and shaft in, mocked up ready to ascertain where deck beams are to go. Not bad considering I started her in 1982 !!!

Electrics in, shaft and prop in, rudder in, battery hold in, ballast in. Now for wheelhouse, deck equipment and deck clutter ! Herewith a few photos of one of three crewmen modelling his new wet weather gear made from a Marigold Glove !!! Also the framework of an "inkwell" crab pot made from a champagne cork wire !!! it's amazing what you can utilise with a bit of imagination !!!

Hi figtree7nts !!! Yes that was a special occasion ! it was Plymouth (UK) Trawler Race Day and the boat was in the crabber section. I was on the wheel when this photo was taken. We came second in our class and 14th overall !!! That was in July 1982 !!! I intend to "Dress Ship" when I finally launch her next Spring 2017 ! ๐Ÿ‘

    Hi Ballast

Are you going to be getting ships flag for the EXUBERENT as well? I think that would be a great detail to add since the original is all flagged out. it must have been a special occasion for her to be flying so many flags!

Hi all ! Thing are moving slowly at the detailing stage. I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to tell me the best way to secure the LED bulbs for my Navigation Lights etc. There isn't much room for fittings and I have seen lights secured and sealed with a clear gel that goes off hard. Can someone tell me what this is called and where I can get some of same please, it looks like clear sealant but is much harder when cured.

    Hi Wayne
Just seen your post. The clear resin is casting resin and it is used for encapsulating ornamental and wildlife specimens. The model train boys use it for making rivers/lakes etc. Problem is its usually sold in 1 litre tins with about a 6 month shelf life so not that cheap for our purposes. if you have a railway socy or scale model society near you could try asking if they have any?

Hi Mate, in small spaces, i have used gel type cyno, a small blob to secure the LED and using the LED lens/body as the "glass" works well, you have to look close to see the difference. Using a varnish is ok but it does tend to go yellowish over time

Well done, I spent ages trying to find a 12/1 pilot for my Bluebird, I ended up buying a Breaking Bad "action figure"
He was made out of solid vinyl & weighed a ton, well er 150 grams
    Cheers
