The kits came with the tapered masts. I did have make one of the masts over as it was warped.What I did was purchase a 1/2โ hard wood dowel marked the center and smaller diameter on one end then used a small razor plane to taper it to almost the shape I needed then cut the lenth just a bit longer so I could fit it into my 1/2 drill chock fastened the drill to my work bench and used it like a makeshift lath then used sandpaper to smooth and shape the final taper needed. Mike, are your models seen in your post, done with round masts? if so, what wood did you use and how did you mak3 them tapered?

Very nicely done l have built two Emma C Berryโs one free sail the other r/c with auxiliary electric motor the both sail nicely. Sterling also produced the Yacht America in the same scale size as the Emma C Berry. I have that as well set up with r/c and auxiliary power. Iโve raced them against each other about equal in speed. Both have removable keels.

Nice job so far.Especially like your method of holding the boat upright while working on the topside.Looks nice and solid and sturdy.
