Same here in Venice FL. Lew. My pond is down to approx 1 ft deep ( danger zone because there are a few rocks just about poking or just under the surface ). Even the Blue Herons are walking in the middle . I have two more locations that are much deeper to run the boats though, but have not done so yet.
Rainy season is just around the corner. And so are the hurricanes ☹️

The weather: How quickly things can turn ugly fast! With our drought back, we here is Florida's west coast (Gulf of Mexico side) are seeing a big degrading of our model boat pond. "The tide is out, ebbing" (water is very low). Dead fish and stagnant water, smelly and cloudy. Looking for those summer storms🌧️. "April showers" did not show this year, I guess no "May Flowers".

Perfect model pond, not too big so nothing can lost. Nice sunny and warm
I’m convinced, I am moving to Florida. I live in Pennsylvania we had a snow/rain mixture yesterday
YUCH! 😎
Alessandro, yes, it is a very good place for model boats, especially recently now that the county seems to be back to regular maintenance.
Roughly 100 meters diameter (egg shape) and 1-1/2 meter deep. Trees slow the wind down most of the time if it gets windy.

Greetings and Happy New Year to fellow model boaters...
Sunday, January 7th was our first Suncoast Scale Model Boat Club meet of 2024. It was also the 10th year as a model boat club. (The original SSMBC ran from 1975 to about 1982.)
After over a month without meets (December meets were cancelled because of bad weather forecasts of rain that never happened (🤕😠😝 to the "weather people).
The day started out with rain before sunrise and it looked bad for a meet. But all that cleared up with the sun coming out and the temperature stood at about 65F (18C) plus a breeze.
We started the meet with a dispersion of model boat kits, partial builds, tools, and materials. This rather large lot of items had been donated to this club.
After that we broke out the models. Despite the breeze on the shore, the water was on the calm side because to the trees mitigating the breeze. Because of the very recent rain the water was quite clear (for this pond), being able to see down about three feet). Kevin (fellow model-boats.com member) got to test run his USCG vessel (under construction).
