Full Steam Ahead

Hi Mike, first and foremost congratulations and a long wait for your finally arrived Steam Plant bits. I am guessing that your boiler is 3 1/2" in diameter, and am concerned with regards to the weight factor in a 36" ish open hull. I would definitely suggest a floatation test with all the gear in the hull plus water in the boiler. Having just tried this myself the same boiler with a TVR1A engine the results were quite frightening, and am contemplating raising the hull height 1" to create more draft and a bit of a safety margin. I have a nice unused three cylinder oscillating engine if you are interested. Regards, Gary.

Nice, my new plant arrived a couple of days ago from Clevedon Steam. I did post a video on this forum somewhere...

Full Steam Ahead

I placed an order last September for my Christmas present from my wife and it arrived today. The push that made me go for steam was after a visit to a fellow modeller who is a "master of steam" and he showed me around his most impressive workshop and the steam models he had made.

GaryLC (Captain) kindly gave me a twin cylinder oscillating steam engine and a hull to get me started in steam.
So Gary we are "Full Steam Ahead"

PS it may be a while before I start the new project as I have the Inga IV yacht to finish first.
