I like the look of your Catalina, Doug, do you fly her and if so do you fly her from land or water, being an amphibian? I have a hankering for a seaplane just to run around the lake, not flying, but whether I'll get round to it now, I don't know.
I saw a Catalina at an airshow, years ago and was surprised what a big plane she was and I had a distant American relative who was an airgunner on one in the Korean war.

    Cheers, Nerys

I have taken the old wooden hatch cover off to find out what was inside there was something that moved around when you tilted the boat found the end of a hand made brass anchor and the remains of some sort of leaf or plant the joints are sealed with tar the inside has been carved out i find it very strange that the two items were sealed up inside i think it is very old possible the 1900

I'd be inclined to perhaps just dust it off and build a case to display it in. The charm is in the patina and that doesn't happen overnight.

    Hi Mike.
glad that i could help i took the entire cabin off this evening as i had to fit a new sail servo and on turning the cabin section upside down spotted very small numbers on sections of the wood i then remembered all the years ago that the deck and cabin etc came all marked out so you just had to cut them out very easy the hull was very thin plastic type and was prone to cracking a few years ago i striped the lot down and pumped builders foam inside the hull manage to marsked of the servo and rudder section and it made the hull a lot firmer and was still light i plus i know that it won't sink

    Best Regards

    Hi David,
Your yacht reminds me of my corpse in the basement, your model in honor, but it has something of the optimist of the Graupner company.
You just gave me an idea that I have to write down. . .
I find the cockpit special and right for my optimist corpse

Nice to see a good looking yacht surviving you have done a great job. Probably going to outlive yourself now, have you considered her new owner?

I have been showing my son how my model boats assemble and work, but even I forget sometimes. Always meant to write it all down as a sort of instruction sheet.
Well done though carry on the good work.

So...in the summer I gutted the Sterling CC 63. I gave the interior another coat of resin. repainted the hull. I put in new running gear. Made resin boxes for the shaft supports. Built new rudders. This weekend I painted the interior of the hull. Mounted the engines. Then did some interior work. I will add lighting at a later date.

That's what the camera shoots in Doug, can't change it, have to change the format in the editor.

    Much better JB๐Ÿ‘
Now Utoob offers me HD up to 1080p. Vid works lighter too.
Now even on the distant shots I can see that 'something' is being towed.
Shots near the jetty show Babs quite well now.
Why do you have to shoot in the old (1992๐Ÿ˜ฎ), closed, Microsoft AVI format?
Conversions of AVI are almost always dodgy I've found.
My cameras use the H264 or 265 codecs and produce MPEG (MP4) files directly.
Never mind, we got there in the end๐Ÿ˜Š

    Hi Trev,
The rowing boat 'Skulduggery' was built by a very clever fellow member of this site, Graham93.
Check out his harbour entry, which also includes a link to Graham's incredible Build Blog of the boat. Crewed by Bionic Bill and his pipe smoking/fishing cousin Ben!
