After a long time I am back trying to get a boat in the water, I have an old 32nd Parallel kit in mothballs unfinished. So to take an easier route I am converting an S 100 Italeria Schnellboot . Very slow going as there is little to no support locally so with out the net all would be lost......Given my current disability, this will be a 90/90 build , she will look good at 90 feet or 90 mph which ever works best....

Hi Doug yes I did try the three prop set up first MFA 385's if I remember correctly running on a electronize 30 speed controler.but replaced them with a Graupner eco 500 I think ?
I am doing a lot of reading of posts online many back when this kit was new to the market.... as to my motor choice I winged it as I am not sure of what the motor sizes list here (300,500... etc etc) but did read a rule of thumb in that props should be equal to or better yet less than the diameter of said motor , so with brut strength and ignorance I have 3 Hobbyking ST3007, 1100KV that and a goal of keeping it light , thou I think I have read that 3.3 kg was ideal for scale ?....Again a 90/90 build , having lost all feelings in both hands from spinal stenosis I must accept what I can do now to what I once did or able to do with just a little more effort... Thank You All for your posts and help , and posting of videos online they bring me great pleasure and enjoyment ....Thank You
Not much progress of late , taking care of life matters and a limited cash flow has all but stopped forward movement. Hope to get a bit of free time soon to paint details , she will never be close to what is viewed here but it will be the best I can do ......stay tuned
Happy Cruising All

Evenin' BW, she's lookin' pretty good to me👍
Don't hide your light under a whatsit!
I've seen far far worse , esp regarding the painting😲
Looks like tidy work to me, I'm signing up for notifications of your progress.
If I can help at all just give me 'an electronic shout' 😉
All the best, Doug 😎
After building the mine laying rails I then purchased scale German mines , only to find out that they are 4mm wider than the rails on the boat, ...what to do , cut the mines (8) down and rework the base and wheels to fit the boats rails or move the rails wider ..... moving the rails ... slow going , found that the motors I have are more aircraft/drone use per the esc, , no reverse .... Hobbyking does have esc that will work , still need a couple of servos and a radio , just not sure if a 6 Chanel land/ boat radio or get a large channel stick radio would be better ... as always $$$$ is an issue .
Work on the messy table as I fit cut and replace fittings and supports ...
Smooth sailing to all...

Well things have been very slow either due to tight budget or health issues but progress has been made and so just final trimming and the last major build problem of getting my torpedo doors to open and close has been solved. Many Thanks to builders on YouTube that share their solutions to how to make work. Once I have everything fit ,trim and work ,I will start setting up for water trimming and testing. She will see the water this summer ...😊👍

Progress, at least something good from this forced lockdown

Hi BW.
Nice looking boat.
I was impressed with your idea for the Tubes opening.👍👍👍
I must confess I may try that on mine.Never even thought of trying that.
Have you thought of having the front and rear guns rotating.
I attach some pictures of mine with the servo set up if it helps.
Will be following this one from now so good luck.
Regards Bill
Yes I did give some thought to that , ...I have given controlled rotation to the aft and mid-ship guns , but felt the forward gun would be much harder to get both gunner and gun to rotate and still be water resistant. I am also watching how the weight is being placed . Thank You for your interest ..BW
I must give credit to where credit is due, I found this on a short YouTube posting by A Greg Frost .....he is due all ...the others I found posted I found a bit more of a challenge for linkage that I could not do easily . ...The best part is if down the line I want independent door operation, it is easily done but for now they are Y cabled to one channel.

After some very painful and unhappy times I have finally gotten back to my project she is almost ready for trim out and water tests . I am looking forward to her first maiden voyage at a local pond . I am having to scale back my expectations due to limited skills and my physical limits …she will never win at a show , nor pass a navy inspection for an orderly crew and ship . So I include a few photos of the current state and lay out .

The stern 37 m gun and crew will swing 180’ …..the quad 20 m anti aircraft will rotate 360’ in either direction , the bridge will be manned as will both torpedo tubes with crew and last the torpedo doors are operational …I may at some point split them to independent operation but currently they open and close together , I also may redo the rudder system to include the Lurssen Effect but now have all 3 rudders locked together …I may add led lights also …

Not kit and not totally to photo real….but best I can do given what I have and can do…she will look fair at 9 feet away or 90 knots …

Don't go nuts on the 'touch ups' and looking for perfection BW.
These boats were probably the most heavily worked (and successful) vessels of the whole DKM surface fleet, operating from the North Sea and Channel to the Med and Black Sea.
Most larger DKM ships only managed one or two missions!
The S-Boats were repaired and patched with whatever was available or could be 'scrounged', much like the US PTBs in the Pacific.
So make it look Used and it'll be just right👍
Looking good so far.
Cheers, Doug 😎
Understood , details and touch I should have been more specific, as to bits and pieces I had not installed due to other major components and work that I needed to do , and chipped paint of the brass fab’d replacements etc etc ..She will look the part of a war wore boat for sure. Currently have a radio issue with my Turnigy 9x …was never a fan of stick radios on a boat …and this has me scratch my head as to why I lost bind and can’t get it back but will have a friend over soon to help , tho he is an avid Helicopter flyer …don’t make he a bad guy ..lol ….So to keep me from getting to frustrated I have started the next conversion to RC …Italeri’s Vospers MTB and the the special St.Nazaire boat …pictures and new blog soon .
Happy days , I had a bit of trouble getting the radio to work and it required me to call in a friend’s help …between the two of us we got it figured out ,,,I had missed wired the 3 ESC ‘s On switch’s ..polarity is important ……Second Water test with full electronics operating reveled water linking past the center prop shaft ..addressed with both RTV and with CV glue …it also reveled a slight list of about a quart bubble to Starboard. All in all a great day and hope to have the maiden voyage soon…
