I am doing a lot of reading of posts online many back when this kit was new to the market.... as to my motor choice I winged it as I am not sure of what the motor sizes list here (300,500... etc etc) but did read a rule of thumb in that props should be equal to or better yet less than the diameter of said motor , so with brut strength and ignorance I have 3 Hobbyking ST3007, 1100KV that and a goal of keeping it light , thou I think I have read that 3.3 kg was ideal for scale ?....Again a 90/90 build , having lost all feelings in both hands from spinal stenosis I must accept what I can do now to what I once did or able to do with just a little more effort... Thank You All for your posts and help , and posting of videos online they bring me great pleasure and enjoyment ....Thank You

I have a liking for italeri kits myself. Built the Vosper MTB in 2011 then the PT 109 a few years later. They really perform well either with single or triple props.
Both of mine have 480 brushed motors, single props, and 2s Lipo 2200mAh. ideal for small ponds where you can maintain scale speeds and if easy on the throttle you can have a decent endurance before the battery goes flat. Boaty๐ ▲

Hi Ron, did you ever try 3 props for comparison?
If yours is the 1:35 italeri I don't see any problem with space for 3 shafts. I have an approx 1:35 MTB currently with 2 shafts, 'as seen and bought' next season I propose to fit a 3rd motor and shaft: port and starboard for cruising, switch-in centre motor for "All ahead flank"! BTW: I have a couple of kits for the S100 "Schnellboot, otherwise known as E Boat, E for Enemy๐, one Airfix and one Revell, both 1:72. I intend to fit them with 3 motors as well - 'Plastic Magic' ๐ Motors already sourced from X-Drive, shafts will be home brew from silver steel and brass tube with sintered phosphor bronze bearings. "Nothing is impossible", I drive a Toyota ๐๐ Cheers Doug ๐ ▲

Coming along nicely , I have done the conversation of this kit myself some years ago when it first came out . I had to make the propshafts myself as the conversion kit wasn't available then but I found that it handled better using only one prop rather than the intended 3 props plus the lack of space inside the hull for the rest of the electrics.

Yes I did give some thought to that , ...I have given controlled rotation to the aft and mid-ship guns , but felt the forward gun would be much harder to get both gunner and gun to rotate and still be water resistant. I am also watching how the weight is being placed . Thank You for your interest ..BW

Hi BW.
Nice looking boat. I was impressed with your idea for the Tubes opening.๐๐๐ I must confess I may try that on mine.Never even thought of trying that. Have you thought of having the front and rear guns rotating. I attach some pictures of mine with the servo set up if it helps. Will be following this one from now so good luck. Regards Bill ▲

Understood , details and touch I should have been more specific, as to bits and pieces I had not installed due to other major components and work that I needed to do , and chipped paint of the brass fabโd replacements etc etc ..She will look the part of a war wore boat for sure. Currently have a radio issue with my Turnigy 9x โฆwas never a fan of stick radios on a boat โฆand this has me scratch my head as to why I lost bind and canโt get it back but will have a friend over soon to help , tho he is an avid Helicopter flyer โฆdonโt make he a bad guy ..lol โฆ.So to keep me from getting to frustrated I have started the next conversion to RC โฆItaleriโs Vospers MTB and the the special St.Nazaire boat โฆpictures and new blog soon .

Don't go nuts on the 'touch ups' and looking for perfection BW.
These boats were probably the most heavily worked (and successful) vessels of the whole DKM surface fleet, operating from the North Sea and Channel to the Med and Black Sea. Most larger DKM ships only managed one or two missions! The S-Boats were repaired and patched with whatever was available or could be 'scrounged', much like the US PTBs in the Pacific. So make it look Used and it'll be just right๐ Looking good so far. Cheers, Doug ๐ ▲
