As part of the plan in the raid this Vosper would successfully launch two special torpedoes at water control flood gates to the dry dock , the โ€œcageโ€ was to push the anti torpedo net out of the way so they could be launched over the net , where they run and sunk by the gate and to later blow by a timer causing major damage that was repaired but delayed the use of the docks . It is sad that on completing the mission and then picking up wounded and survivors in trying to make an escape only to be hit with gun fire and sunk with only two survivorsโ€ฆ..

It really is a mess ,there is a reason I only got back views of the poor crew โ€ฆ.๐Ÿ˜ฌ.. I am still figuring out how to do pattern paint on a warship ,,,I have much to learn ..as to research I had only the on photo in โ€œVospers in Action โ€œ book and even that in my opinion shows her still being fitted out and only front on viewโ€ฆ.In the end I had to guess and to trust the instructionsโ€ฆ.I am the mess in the middle โ€ฆshe should look good underway and at a distance, just donโ€™t look close .I am really looking forward to getting both Vospers out and the schnellboot at the pond this weekend and will post video if all goes well โ€ฆ

Having completed Vs1,I turned my attentions to Vs2โ€ฆthe special Vosper made for the great raid of St.Nazaireโ€ฆagain I beg forgiveness for my poor attempt she is not a follow the out of the box nor a true to life scale buildโ€ฆbut it is the best I can currently accomplish. I hope to sea trial both Vospers this weekend. So I will upload a few more build pictures and try to patently wait to get to the pond .

Both Are 1/35 scale kits โ€ฆ.I have in my stash of kits Trumpters 1/200 scale Bismarck and HMS Rodney , I hope to add to that HMS Hood , and others โ€ฆbut first need to clear up a couple of older kits / projects for years ago โ€ฆone a 1/32 scale PT boat and an old ABS Robbie Hull that I would like to some day complete as an armed trawlerโ€ฆIf health and a bit of good fortune come my way I dream of a few other projects like a WWI Q ship โ€ฆbut I think that will end up being almost a total scratch build , something I am far from even starting never mind the space and tools neededโ€ฆ

Boat is running very good , I can get about 25 good solid minutes of general usage with a few high speed runs , before bring her back in before it is just rudder control โ€ฆI will continue to add and adjust details but over all I am very happy with it. I will now focus on my 2 Vosper MTBs โ€ฆthey should prove to be interesting having to re evaluate my motor choice with one not so powerful and fast โ€ฆ

I have spent a bit of time getting both hulls ready for a water test either fabbing up needed parts as I waited for the over the counter parts to arrive. After completing the required install of a rudder and motor I was delighted at the power that the motor put out โ€ฆ.I have since had time to think about my choices and now getting something a bit less hot โ€ฆ.I am still trying to understand the calculations for motors and batteries for a given hull . I will say this my first choice I now feel would not have ended in a good outing I can only imagine what the damage would have been to flip this model at speed would have resulted โ€ฆ.๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜–. I include a few pictures of my efforts

Starting a separate blog for the pair of Vosper MTBโ€™s that I am building , I got the special built kit of the St. Nazaire Vosper and a standard MTB of the same period. During a slow spot in my Schnellboot build bot kits have come together quickly , but the finer details of matching motors ,ESC, batteries and props takes time if you are not using pre-matched units . I donโ€™t claim to know anything as to what I am putting together other than what I can study or see on line โ€ฆso if you see any issues please point them out I would much rather learn the easy way than finding out the errors the hard way . In a fit of lazy I ordered a propeller shaft and rudders ,, but where they are now proving to be slow in arriving, my impatient drive to build I went ahead and made both rudder and propeller shaft with stuffing box using my limited scrap brass pieces . So at least one boat is moving toward the water maybe even for this summer or early fall โ€ฆand not the six year build that the schnellboot took.

The maiden voyage was good for the most part , given this is my second boat I have ever gotten into the water it went well. A couple of issues was one was using a stick radio set up for flight and not surface and two was the throttle settings was not right โ€ฆSo after a short run and a few bury the sterns due to more throttle/power backwards than forwards it was back home to evaluate and correct. So one was to install a surface radio that I had ordered for the Vospers , now need to get another receiver, and after a bit of YouTube figured out that the ESC โ€˜s if reversing them did not work that maybe programming them would โ€ฆ.problem solved โ€ฆhad gotten a car programming card some time ago so I tried it having nothing to lose and have a boat card on its way . I got lucky โ€ฆit worked set the throttle up and next test will be tomorrow afternoon ..

I am very grateful for all the efforts that those here and those that post on YouTube โ€ฆI have no clubs anywhere near me , the closest to me is a fast boat group and most of their meets are out of state to me , as to a scale model group the next closes is about mid state and they post more along the lines of sail, than motor craft โ€ฆAgain Thank You all for the resourceโ€ฆ

After the all the issues with the Schnellboot build โ€ฆin part to many starts and stops over the last few years I will keep these simple to a single motor and rudder.

Yes I did give some thought to that , ...I have given controlled rotation to the aft and mid-ship guns , but felt the forward gun would be much harder to get both gunner and gun to rotate and still be water resistant. I am also watching how the weight is being placed . Thank You for your interest ..BW

I must give credit to where credit is due, I found this on a short YouTube posting by A Greg Frost .....he is due all ...the others I found posted I found a bit more of a challenge for linkage that I could not do easily . ...The best part is if down the line I want independent door operation, it is easily done but for now they are Y cabled to one channel.

Well things have been very slow either due to tight budget or health issues but progress has been made and so just final trimming and the last major build problem of getting my torpedo doors to open and close has been solved. Many Thanks to builders on YouTube that share their solutions to how to make work. Once I have everything fit ,trim and work ,I will start setting up for water trimming and testing. After building the mine laying rails I then purchased scale German mines , only to find out that they are 4mm wider than the rails on the boat, ...what to do , cut the mines (8) down and rework the base and wheels to fit the boats rails or move the rails wider ..... moving the rails ... slow going , found that the motors I have are more aircraft/drone use per the esc, , no reverse .... Hobbyking does have esc that will work , still need a couple of servos and a radio , just not sure if a 6 Chanel land/ boat radio or get a large channel stick radio would be better ... as always $$$$ is an issue .
Work on the messy table as I fit cut and replace fittings and supports ...
    Smooth sailing to all...

    Ok...
Currently trying to build a Itaieri Schnellboot, ...but am questioning if what little I think I know to be correct/ workable... I have amassed the following :
3- Hobbyking ST3007 1100KV brushless motors each direct drive to 32mm plastic props.... (2 right hand drive and 1 left hand drive props... swapped over leads on on motor to get it to run as yet untested the left hand prop)

3- Turnigy nano tech 3s 3000mh 25-50C Lipo ( Have got a balance charger and board , flame proof charge bag , battery voltage check/ alarm units, and will check and charge them await the only local help I have in RC / lips battery a helicopter flyer who has no experience with RC boats )

I just read the post on WTail mixer and wonder if I need that or if my current unkowning idea to just connect all 3 ESC โ€˜s together to one channel on the radio , again was give Eflite Blade SR HP6DSM 2.4GHz to try out ,Will this unit work or do I need something else , currently will/ can use all 6 channels but would / could use more if I had them ... last time I had anything to do with RC was a a kid/ teen and back then you had ground radios and flight radios and the two should not be mixed .. Ok please advise , how far off am I or am I still within range of keeping it simple ?

    Thanks All
