The buildings do affect the wind somewhat. However, there is "green space" around as well. So the pond gets some wind. It's not ideal, but the facility as a whole makes for nice boating.
The space is a city park with two large two-level parking ramps adjacent, which serve a shopping area as well as the park. There is a pavilion on the ponds that is used as an event venue also, so adequate parking is a must.
I am attaching a couple of pictures that might help visualize the grounds and facilities.
The pictures of the boats out sailing were taken at the "South Pond" (bottom of second picture), which is the largest of the three and most suited to sailboats.
The third picture is of the center pond by the pavilion. This is where the scale speed electrics mostly run.
Our club has a close working relationship with the park management. Together we came up with the rules on the attached sign, and we are authorized to help enforce them.
