    Hi Bill.

I reviewed the photos of your work today. Indeed, a masterpiece.
    The coloring is magnificent.
The attention to detail is excellent.

Has working Acoustic Hammer at the bow. (phenomenal)
Both main gun armaments rotate. (excellent)
    Rotating radar. (magnificent)
    Navigation and running lights. (beautiful)
    Big pump. (original and fantastic)
Smoke effect. (icing on the cake).

I had a lot of fun reviewing the photos of this model that I had already seen but too quickly.
You are a master of RC modeling.

    Hi Tim.
    Sorry for the delay.
Please find attached a simplistic drawing of my fitting method.
As you can see I am not a qualified draftsman ๐Ÿคญ.
I started by shaping a circular section of 1/4โ€balsa to the internal diameter of the funnel.
Once happy with the position then I drilled a suitable hole and slid the smoker down taking care to ensure that there is at least 1/4โ€ above the balsa. The top of the smoker does get WARM but NOT overly hot.
If the funnel top grill is plastic then even with the minimal heat it did warp a little so I replaced with very thin brass rod, looks better as well.
I then drilled our 1/32โ€ holes in the balsa to allow air flow to disperse the gentle heat.and ensuring that the base of the funnel has holes for updraft.
Balsa then glued in,but smoker push fit for maintenance.
The wiring is a very simple set up.
From smoker to one side of switch which you must position wherever you can on your boat re deck clutter.
Make a simple loop circuit to the battery and back to the smoker returning to the switch. If you wish to put in an online fuse no problem. I must admit I didnโ€™t.
You could of course go more complicated and do a circuit that incorporates your throttle control if you wish.

This really is a simple solution and works well.
I have tried to upload a video but the file is too large.
If you want more smoke the go for the higher voltage smokers of which here are many out there.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards Bill

    RodC and JerseyR.
Sorry for the delay in reply.
    I have updated the specifications.
Re the radar,I attach some pictures for you.
The motor is from EBay with a 50 to 1 reduction and fits just inside the radar housing.
The smoker is a Seuthe No 5 again from EBay,4/6. 6volts
If you have a tug dependant on size you may be able to fit a water nebuliser.
    There are many other outlets.
Let me know if you need more info.
    Regards
    Bill

Many thanks for that. I like the look of your boat and set-up. My mister is too big for the boat.
    Best wishes Tim

Hi Scratchbuilder, I'm interested in your smoker. Is it possible to put a quick sketch on the website to show how you've constructed it? I'm having trouble fitting a mister in my Sir Kay and your unit looks nice and compact.
    Best wishes Tim.
With regard to the colour of the smoke , the only way that you'll get black smoke is to burn something and get soot in the smoke just like the real thing. Even if you use a mister and put dye in the water you'll only get white smoke.

Oh I get it, the bucket creates noise which sets off a mine. Very clever those sailors. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

    Hi Ron.
Itโ€™s an Acoustic hammer, not bomber ๐Ÿคญ.This basically was large metal bucket fitted on an โ€œAโ€frame which could be lowered over the bow.Inside was a device which on hitting the bucket caused a loud banging. This caused acoustics which was designed to set of acoustic mines which are activated by audio activity.Similar to modern Sonar but in a different guise.
It basically mimicked the ships engines and other metallic sounds.
    Not for fishing!!
Loads of info on the Net.๐Ÿ˜‚
Re the smoke.I agree re the colour.I think there was an article on our site some time ago on black smoke.but I can remember the result.
    Hope this helps.

What is an acoustic bomber & why would you use it on a model? Does it stun the fish so then you follow along with a trawler to harvest them ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ๐ŸŸ

Another question. In movies the smoke coming from their stacks is dark, yet those who use rc โ€œsmokersโ€ the vapours are white & not realistic. Is there something you can use to produce dark smoke?

    Well done Scratchbuilder,

Countless rc sailing Conversions of the Matchbox (then Revell) 1\72nd Corvette kit must have been completed over the years - but without doubt this must be one of the best.

We have 4 such corvettes regularly sailing in my club.. However, I must admit abandoning my own build of the kit and then rather shamefully selling it on a few years back. Like others, my main problem was the railings or sanctions which drove me crazy!

The Flower Class Corvette sails superbly but just as with most plastic display kits, the model is intrinsingly very fragile. This you may find a purpose-made wooden transport and storage box a wise addition.

With best wishes. Dr John F. Leeds and Bradford. MBC

Very nice, great automation. Will you please explain the design of the rotating radar. It needs very low RPM.
