Here in Minnesota, we have more than our share of Canada Geese. Most people I know refer to them as "Flying Carp", as they are about as desirable on or in the lake as a carp.

River Rat, I belong to the Edina Model Yacht Club ( www.EMYC.org ), Edina is a suburb of Minneapolis. Our club is quite active, we meet at the ponds in Centennial Lakes Park in the city of Edina regularly. Club members can be found at Centennial Lakes on evenings and weekends throughout the summer.

We hold 3 major events each summer, which are well attended and draw quite a crowd of spectators. They are the "Parade of Boats" on 6/11, Lighthouse Night #1 on 8/16, and Lighthouse Night #2 on 9/9. We would love to have you join us at any of these events, should you decide to make a road trip up here.

I have posted pictures of past events on this site. I will post our calendar of events for this coming summer, and some pictures of last year's Parade of Boats and Lighthouse night #2.

So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.

My bad on the geese Ron... they can be a pain sometimes... I am in Louisville Kentucky. There are a couple Racing clubs around here but I prefer the type of boats on this site. I would like to visit a large event this summer. You guys have anything? RR

River Rat, which state are you located in? If your state borders on Canada, i'm sure you will hear from nearby Canadian members of this site, as we Canadians love to meet up with American visitors.

BTW those pests are CANADA GEESE, not purely "Canadian".

In my area we have numerous ponds that are listed as rc ponds. Problem is...the only face to face I get is with Canadian geese πŸ˜”. Rc boating and sailing are just not popular here. I have never run into another person at any of our locations with an rc boat. (wife loves to fish tho) Also no clubs to mention. So it's solo for me. I think we might travel to a meet somewhere this summer. Where might we find a large rc boat event in the states? Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks RR

Update on being in a club and the shows we were at.
For more than two years because of covid we have not been able to meet or show our boats.
Over the last two weekends our club was able to setup and show our boats with a third show coming the last weekend in March.
As builders we love to show and tell about our work.Having members of this forum give feedback is wonderful.
Having the puplic view our work gives us a chance to talk about our boats and how we built them.
If you will Brag a little bit as you see the interest they show.
As a club we do enjoy showing to the puplic but also to each other.
    Rick
