Watch out with the Interceptor as the plastic around the prop shaft is prone to cracking and suddenly splitting if it suffers any vibrations. It was sadly a well known weak point that sunk the sales for Ripmax. They made an Interceptor Ultra with slightly hardened plastic around that area though the moment had gone and it was replaced by the Ripmax Tomkat

White one is a Ripmax Interceptor 650. And if that particular one wants a new home give me a shout as I've got a few of them. It's approx 20 years old! The tunnel that the prop sits in was a Ripmax approach for beginners at the time so there's less than chance of a prop strike though affects performance greatly. Changed to a surface drive and it has fantastic handling and performance with a FOXXY 600 brushed and a 7.2 3300 Nimh.
The black one is indeed Chinese. A standard plastic batboat design with the twin screw and proportional steering many had with a small manual rudder to help adjust steering trim on many. Again with an actual ESC fitted and rudder. Two new props and twin 540's fitted over the standard 380's it fairly moves too

Well the maiden went well today with a much better suited prop. Takes a wee bit of throttle control to get up on plain but once she's on it you can throttle back and she glides around in a lovely fashion.
I had so much fun I thought I'd quickly get home and grab more batteries to continue the fun.
That's when I should have just behaved and left it for the day but nope I returned as the light was fading. Popped my packs in and then in the middle of the effing pond she just went silent. I tried to give her throttle but nothing. So yip I had to wade in and go collect her.
Found fishing line wrapped round my prop and an extremely hot motor.
Sadly the motor is dead though really that's fine by me as I'm not a fan of brushless and love my brushed motors.
Have been home and have performed a quick transplant from brushless to brushed. Have fitted a 755 size Black and Decker drill motor and a 180amp ESC (yes overkill though all I had). Now with the extra torque I've ordered a 55mm prop to replace the 32mm. Hopefully that will allow her to plain a bit quicker as well.
And for some amusement here's my two tone jeans after my dip ๐
Happy sailing

Well maiden went ehh....
Let's just make today a pre maiden as prop choice was clearly beyond wrong ๐
A much larger prop is required as all I got was cavitation to a whole new extreme. It barely moved forward just made lots of noise and didn't grip the water at all. I tried to gently build speed up but nope she wouldn't get on the plain just sloshed water and done very little. It was fine at 1 notch of trim on fwd and cruise nicely with that though any throttle and she cavitated
Oh well she handled gentle cruising and turn radius very impressive

In the past I've linked a firepump to a small 10amp ESC so I can control the throw of water via separate channel. Much prefer that over the instant on/off variety

Could go along the lines of "Proceed" here with the extremely weathered old tug loo. Failing that keep it sweet and simple as a newcomers "try sailing" boat. Kit her with a 280 brushed and standard 3 blade fine pitch prop (Radiolink) with a rubber bumper and ask bystanders if they'd like a shot. Has so much potential though. I love transforming unloved boats back to working vessels again

I've the same transmitter and yes it can be done though you'll find the channels are the same as you're master receiver in 1,2,3. So unless you wanted to use it for a twin rudder, twin motor scenario I'd forget it.
The great thing about Flysky is the price. If you're looking for more dedicated channels I highly recommend the Flysky GT-5 which offers much more and is still on the cheap side
Good luck

Hermank I'm keen on a Aquarama with twin jetdrive. Either way something with a jetdrive though finding an efficient system is difficult. Another is a ducted fan powered simple v hull. The fan would be facing downwards though blowing through a duct and out underneath. Yes bizarre I know though without trying something you'll never know.
I like trying weird and wonderful ideas with rc boats. A bit like the plastic fuel tank I'm waiting for Endurance. It shall be 300ml and with the flow I have through the peristaltic pump it would last 35min. I'll have it filled with iced water for an ultra cool closed loop cooling system. Does it need it? No a simple proven system would work just as well though for use in salt water it'll help me stop internal corrosion of the esc and other metal components ๐. Well should ๐๐ค

So my Krick Florida kit (ABS) arrived at 10am today so I went to work on it using everything and anything I could find to get it water ready asap. Sadly there where a few parts missing though nothing I couldn't make up with bits and pieces in my shed. I've still to complete the cosmetic side though she's ready for the water.
I've chosen the name "Endurance" as I'm running a 3000kv brushless system along with 4 blade bronze prop and 2 x 7.2v 3600 nimh batteries.
I've made the two fake exhausts work by linking up a peristaltic pump which is normally used in a hospital for when you have a drip in you're arm so that the water flowing out the exhausts looks more realistic.
I'll be not using the full potential of the motor and sticking to my slow cruising with the occasional burst of speed
Went with my sunshine yellow hull and white upper for the time being though planning to add name to the side and some lights at some point
It's a big boat! I hadn't actually looked up the length of it ๐.
Anyways will maiden her possibly Wednesday or Thursday
Will add some photos of the quick build
Happy sailing

Morning all and thanks for all the kind words. Going to pull my boxes of parts, motors and kits out today and neaten everything out with an inventory for each box. That way I'll know what I've got. I've become very good at buying stuff I already have ๐
Also just notice my old Ripmax Interceptor has developed a split right along the hull though that my fault for placing it's floating shelf so close to the radiator for two months so some plastic welding to be done there
Rainy day here in Scotland so a productive day in it will be ๐

Hello all and sorry I've been away for some time.
Sadly health hasn't been on my side and after many issues with what seemed like my Crohn's disease deteriorating and invasive tests its been determined I've stage 2 gastric cancer.
I'm on a liquid only diet now and unable to swallow solids. Have started steroid treatment to try bulk me up a little more along with monocular therapy before more invasive treatment is to start later next month so I've been resting mainly in bed and away from my boats, builds and the pond.
Though the time has come to take the bulk by the horns and try get back on the wagon so I've purchased a plastic kit I've been wanting for many years which is the "Robbe Florida 26". I've opted for a 700 brushed motor, 60amp esc and 2 x 7.2v 3300 running in parallel for extended run times.
Going to paint the hull sky blue and upper leave mostly as it comes on white with a one go fast stripe along the middle and a figure in the cockpit.
Going along the sweet and simple approach on this one so I can spend less time building and more time on the water!
Anyways it's nice to be back on here and I won't be so much the stranger again
Here's a photo of what the Florida looks like. Should arrive on Monday and will post a short build post up
Happy Boating

Nothing to worry about. Connect it all up and it will be fine. The esc will regulate voltage etc through the receiver. You have nothing to worry about on that side.
Just be careful with you're motor getting too hot. I'd run it for 5min then stop and see how warm it is. Depending on propeller it might be fine though a water cooled mount wouldn't be a bad thing.
Ps those esc's are brilliant and really proving themselves to be the go to these days
Good luck and look forward to seeing her on the water

Good afternoon
What servo do you have? Also you're esc is water cooled but you're motor isn't? If you look at the Dollatek f540 brushless and esc combo it would be better suited. The esc is air-cooled and the motor has cooling fins.
In terms of hooking it all up it'll all be fine. Just connect the lipo to each to receiver and it will work

Hermann Marwede it looks like. Getting the ballast perfected on this is quite tough due to the high upper structure. She doesn't half want to roll however after fitting a small lead keel is manageable
