U-Boat
Long term project of unknown fibreglass U-Boat. Dynamic dive and works quite well although has been mothballed for some years now and must get back on task with her.

π rc equipment help!!!

Nothing to worry about. Connect it all up and it will be fine. The esc will regulate voltage etc through the receiver. You have nothing to worry about on that side.
Just be careful with you're motor getting too hot. I'd run it for 5min then stop and see how warm it is. Depending on propeller it might be fine though a water cooled mount wouldn't be a bad thing.
Ps those esc's are brilliant and really proving themselves to be the go to these days
Good luck and look forward to seeing her on the water

Good afternoon
What servo do you have? Also you're esc is water cooled but you're motor isn't? If you look at the Dollatek f540 brushless and esc combo it would be better suited. The esc is air-cooled and the motor has cooling fins.
In terms of hooking it all up it'll all be fine. Just connect the lipo to each to receiver and it will work

Hermann Marwede it looks like. Getting the ballast perfected on this is quite tough due to the high upper structure. She doesn't half want to roll however after fitting a small lead keel is manageable

Hello everyone
I'm looking for replacement Flexshafts. The one I have has yet to break though I know it will one day so don't want to be left waiting on a replacement π
Does anyone know where I can source them?
It's for a Graupner Gtx 650 with 3300kv brushless
Thank you

π two odd questions
1 month ago by
π¬π§ HappyHaggis (

Hi
It really depends on what hull and purpose the boat has
Props come in so many pitches, sizes etc it all comes down to what you're requiring. A standard plastic 2-3 blade prop will have similar outcomes as you'll find a standard 2 blade has more pitch than the 3 so they work out similar
When it comes to faster boats thats when different props and pitches become more apparent
In terms of you having more power in reverse than forward I'd switch you're wires around so its the other way round. A few of my esc's have forward 100% and 75% reverse pre programmed in. In you're case it's likely you've accidentally wired it round the wrong way. Swap wires and reverse that channel and you will have 100% forward
I could go into much more on props as I enjoy experimenting with multi blades though will depend on what boat you have
Kindest Regards
Scott

Hello everyone
I'm wondering if anyone has built a trailer that can attach to a bike for taking models to the pond. With my medical issues I've had to resort to not using the car and have bought an e-bike.
I was thinking it would be far better to have a trailer to pull my boats and equipment along rather than the rucksack I'm using just now as models are arriving with cosmetic damage along with paint blemishing
Any recommendations would be fantastic. I can leave some boats at the clubhouse however I enjoy having them home to tinker with and my shelves would look hollow without them
Thank you
Scott

π Brushed motor cleaning
1 month ago by

Update
So the motor that was submerged lives! I carefully airbrushed bits of sand and dirt out from the windings and then rubbed everything else down with WD40 before blowing everything dry with wife's hairdryer. I tested it on a wee rig in the bath with a 35mm prop letting it run at 1/2 throttle for 20min then a few bursts of full and is running very sweet indeed.
Instead of throwing it back in a speedboat it's going to have a far calmer life now in my own design basic plank tanker where it won't have to work over half throttle again
So a big thank you for all the hints, tips and advice as it will live on for hopefully many more years

After the long winter our club is finally back in swing with some new vessels getting wet.
I was wondering what everyone else is doing?
Are you a solo sailor or are you part of a club?
What is you're go to boat or have you just built something new over the cold season?
Here is a few club boats that set sail today before the nasty weather rolled in

π Brushed motor cleaning

Thanks for everyone's help
I've bought a replacement motor though have also decided to push ahead and repair this one before I pop it in a Graupner Gtx outboard that won't be requiring full throttle or sea use.
The motor was a cheap Johnson 540 from around 2004 and has been used most years since then so has served well though I do enjoy tinkering away and reviving components.
It reminded me of my first real sailboat and I hadn't tightened my outboard clamps properly in a rush to meet the tide. Yip it jumped off the transom while running and it took almost a month to find and recover it. It then sat in garage for 6 months before I decided to strip it to bits and rebuild.
I still use it today as my back up as have an inboard on my sailboat and on testing it's never missed a beat
My father would agree with me being a tinkerer too as he had a lovely Ford Cortina when I was 7 and I decided it needed touching up with a chisel and an oil top up into the radiator.
After that event I deem myself lucky to be able to be typing this or even breathing π
Thanks again to all
Happy sailing

Hi Dave
This is been used in sea water for over a year now then two days ago hit a floating log and ripped the prop shaft out along with motor. Might just have to buy a new motor and let this one go.
Thanks for everyone's help

Hi John
They are stills from a budget GoPro style action camera. It's a Goodman's 1080 30fps camera and all the GoPro hero 4 attachments are compatible. Ive had a few GoPro cameras before and really for my needs they where ott. This however captures what I want and very well. The still quality suffers greatly of what the videos are like and for the bargain price of Β£18!
Built in LCD screen with a good useful range of features

π Water cooling advice

Good evening
I am looking at ways to have constant water cooling so when I'm idle water is still going round. I'm looking for a very small water pump though can't find one.
The next thing I'd like is one that runs intermittently like on off on off on off to replicate a real boats exhaust at idle.
How would I go about getting a pump to do that? A bit like flicking a switch back and forth however having that done automatically
Thank you
Scott

Hi all just a wee check in as have been very busy with home renovation project.
I've been extensively using my 16th birthday boat "Ripmax Interceptor 650" for chill time and enjoying how versatile it is. I've been using it in the sea in the morning then pond at night. Have fitted a stinger drive along with trim tabs and along with a 5000mah NiMH I'm getting in excess of an hour run times.
So I've now decided I want more of them!
Does anyone have a Ripmax Interceptor they'd wish to sell. Going to try an outboard on one then a jetdrive on the other π
These photos are from today at the pond

Hi Len1
A v-tail mixer is used on RC aircraft/gliders that have a v style tail rather than a conventional one. It allows me to have both servos attached to the tail move the same direction when I move my elevator stick up and down so in theory it would work with two esc's allowing fwd/bkd and differential steering too.
I get up down and yaw when flying
Here's a pic of one of my V-tail sailplanes for example

π Finding Somewhere To Sail?

I've never had an issue anywhere. Just turned up to a pond and sailed as my boats cause little to no environmental impact and people enjoy watching them. Maybe if it was a nature reserve then yes there could be an issue though public ponds, canals the sea I've never had anything but positive comments π
