I had a ton of fun with this project! I had a lot of input from my grand kids on this one. They got to help with all the major decisions on colors. We used crayons to picture it. They matched the figures up too. Thanks to all on this site! Dave RR

1930 Chris craft runabout ( Driftwood)
This was my first mahogany boat build. Now I really want to do more of them. This is a Dumas kit and was a pretty tough build. ( Build log is on this site) I really enjoy working on the wooden boats.

Pulled this old friend out of storage. This was my first build. Still looking good after all these years. Going to reinstall all the missing rc gear and nitro motor ( robbed years ago) and get her back on the water.

Just finished this build, took 6 months to complete. Looking for my next project possibly the Delta Queen? Anybody have one for sale? This Dumas kit was a pretty good kit. I was lucky to find a fiberglass hull version from 2001. Its fully functional rc. I love the hobby and am glad to see its still doing great after all these years. Thanks, Dave

I had a lot of fun finishing this hydro I started 20yrs ago. Finished it with 3s and traxxas electronics. Not super fast but fun! The building part is what I enjoy the most. The wood Allison engine fits over the radio box and somewhat kept water out.

My first build after a 2o year Lull. Ended up catching covid which went to Long Haul Covid. I was extremely sick for the first 2 weeks. I had issues for about 3 months. I have had this kit for 15yrs and was so bored while staying home. I pulled it out to "look " at it, 4 months later we were here.

π FLOAHAZZ Smoke Generator (Amazon)

I have the same smoke unit...if you remove the 4 screws on the tank, remove the lid. There is a small cotton ball to absorb the fluid in contact with the coil. I have had to replace this on mine when it quit working. (the cotton ball was burned black) I used a slightly larger piece of cotton. I put 10 to 15 drops in and it will smoke for about 10 minutes. Not the greatest unit, I don't use it anymore, I think it's a fire hazard. I would probably upgrade to a better one with a bigger tank if I were you. Thanks, RR

Hey Rod, I also use a heng long tank smoker in my Creole Queen. I use this fluid, it is for Lionel trains. Works very well. I have a 12v system with a voltage reducer down to 6v. Dave RR

Hey Lew, I have had many of the listed items on various builds but nothing new π. I think it would be nice to have some sort of tethered marker that pops out and floats in the unfortunate circumstance of sinking π±. I had this happen and never recovered the boat. I still think about it 20 years later now. Fun topic! Thanks, Dave RR

I use both methods as well as dry brushing to raise detail. I spray most plastic and fiberglass parts. On wood finish with yacht varnish I use a brush sanding between coats. time and patience are a must. Dave RR

Thanks for the kind words JB, The white trailer you built was my inspiration. You have done a grand job on it. It looks so real! I did get the steel fenders from Ali express in China (took about 3 weeks to arrive) the price was good at $20, so I took a chance. They are very nice, I spent a total of $100 including shipping on the tongue, safety chains, fenders, led tail lights, rims, wheel adapters, 2 leaf spring kits and 4 85mm tires. You can't beat the price. I admire the fact that you made your own guards and other parts. I am going to attempt to make some for my next project a trailer for my Chris craft runabout. (maybe some teardrop fenders π€)
Thanks, Dave RR

I agree Lew, I have used a few small parts from them. The price was already high. I won't be using them anymore. I think I will invest in a resin printer and start making my own parts. Dave RR

Hello Nick, Sorry to hear of your terrible circumstance, I can't imagine where I would be if I lost a daughter.(I have 4) Probably in the same place you are. I went into depression when my father died. I
Stopped doing everything we used to do together. Then one day I did what Colin suggested, I dedicated a build to him. I finished it and it made me think about all the good times we had and things we did together...somehow that eased my pain. I try to focus on that now. I know she would be proud of you. If your mindset stays the same I would get professional help. Depression is a terrible thing and nothing to be ashamed of. Do something before it gets worse. I hope this and everyone else's advice helps you. I personally can't wait to see your next project. Thoughts and prayers from my family ..Dave RR
