Doug,
Obatzda sounds wonderful!! 2 parts cheese, 1 part butter, add beer! Garnished with onions, garlic, horseradish, cloves topped with cream cheese .... sounds like heaven (or a recipe for heart attack, LOL).
I'd love to try it some time.
RC boating, with beer and Obatzda sounds like a wonderful way to enjoy retirement
Colin,
That one handed 6 channel RC Tx/Rx set is very cool!
I wonder if they'd ship to the US?
I think I'm going to try ordering one!

So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.
Doug, your making me miss Ramstein and Kaiserslautern. Schnitzels, Frickadelle, Rouladen, Thomy Mittle-Schaffer Senf!! In a TUBE!! On the walkplatz in K-town there were these stands that sold sandwiches of soft pretzels sliced like bread, with cheese and good German deli meats, and good mustard.
There was a restaurant about 20 klicks from Ramstein called the Ponderosa. Turns out a Senior Master Sargent married a German woman and retired in place. He was originally from San Antonio. So here’s this building in the middle of town with a Texas flag hanging off it, placed was packed with GIs and Germans just stuffing themselves silly, enjoying every bit of it. Chile Relleno, Burritos, Qusedillas, Chicken Fried steak, biscuits and gravy, Tex-Mex and home cooking!! My buddy Jerry and I ate so much we almost made ourselves sick. Good times!!
Ooh…Spatzel, Brotchen and Guallashsuppe!! Ok I’m done😁

Yes Colin, it is very pleasant, and since I retired I can avoid the overcrowded weekends and often have the lake to myself😉
That's a neat gadget👍 Specially like the Cruise control, like in my car.
In the old days I used to use the analogue pot trim controls, on the front panel of my MC-10 TX, to set my destroyer on a leisurely oval patrol cruise in the middle of the lake.
It irritates me immensely that modern sets insist on digitising everything, whether sensible or not, including the trim controls - have to delve through n menu levels to find it now and same again to retake full control😠
Yep, try that recipe, it's delicious. Don't forget the chopped onions to sprinkle on top😋
Cheers, Doug 😎

Young at heart 😉 Slightly older in other places.😊 Cheers Doug
Hey Fleet that sounds and looks a good place to control your fleet command from. Also a great recipe, will have to try it.
Here's a link for a one handed rc set, I saw one in use and its amazing what a one handed person can manage. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325285398104?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=aDZBDKxgTUq&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=LGaRsqMfQ6y&var=514168467646&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Cheers Colin.
Ain't got no club😭
But I go sailing in the Ostpark in Munich, right next to the Biergarten; beer, spare ribs, spit roast chicken, Obatzda (see link below), and more😋😋😋
That's why I like to keep rudder and throttle on one stick - the right stick, leaving a hand free for the victuals😊
Just have to steer clear of the fountains, to avoid suddenly becoming a flying boat pilot😮
Cheers, Doug 😎

Our club uses a city park and pavillion.
There is a kitchen in the pavillion, which is not available w/o a fee.
We are allowed to cater food in or do potluck for events.
There are a number of restaurants adjacent to the park, which we can go to for food.

I wonder how many model boat clubs have their own kitchen/cafe.
At Leeds & Bradford MBC we have a small kitchen. Before Covid we had a lady volunteer who cooked breakfast foods for us, served hot drinks, dispensed cold food, ice creams and drinks. Regretably we have not been able to replace her and our kitchen has virtually fallen into dis-use, with members now making their own teas and coffees.
Does your club have kitchen facilities, and can you get a hot breakfast ??😋😉
