XMAS 2023

Hello Mouldbuilder.

I confirm from Italy.

The 24th is Christmas Eve. We have dinner and wait for midnight all together. Children can finally put baby Jesus in the nativity scene (but not the Magi, they should be placed on Epiphany).
It is a rich, abundant and characteristic dinner (often different from region to region).
Then you should go to church to hear the midnight mass.

The 25th is Christmas itself and we are together for lunch.
Very rich and abundant lunch like the dinner before.

Normally on the 24th you stay with your maternal relatives and on the 25th with your paternal relatives or vice versa.

Nowadays, separated families are splitting up.
The children go to their mother on the 24th and to their father on the 25th or vice versa.

On the evening of the 25th and the 26th (Boxing Day) we eat less abundantly and we spend time with those who couldn't come earlier.

This is generally due to tradition but there is no hard and fast rule, however Christmas Eve, i.e. the evening of the 24th, is the most heartfelt by families.

Happy Christmas and a Very Happy New Year to all. Christmas is celebrated on the 24th here in Hungary. Probably the same in most of mainland Europe.

Don’t worry about it. I still remember my ‘Newbie’ days, back in the 50’s. Luckily I had friends, some with older brothers. (Still made mistakes!) 🙄
So many ships . . . and so little time . . .

Hello you three!
You have hit the nail on the head! I registered here 2 years ago and don't regret a minute of it. I also found all the tricks and tips I received very valuable. .
If you don't ask, you don't get an answer, it's as simple as that.
Merry Christmas to you all,
Hobbyist Michel-C.

"there are no stupid or newbie questions. THERE ARE ONLY STUPID ANSWERS".

I agree with you Wolle, very good!
Comments that are too harsh or "stupid" answers can inhibit the more shy ones who will then not ask again for fear of making a bad impression or out of shyness (even if we are not children).
We must encourage this beautiful hobby, not be an opposite.
There are no professors or teachers, we all contribute with our opinions and advice, any question is always welcome in my opinion.

Newbie questions...what is that??? It almost sounds like "I have a really stupid question." Nick, there are no stupid or newbie questions. THERE ARE ONLY STUPID ANSWERS. With that in mind, I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas.🤗
