Lovely piece of restoration Wolle , as Colin says, if it can be restored- don't discard it. With regards to the identification of the the vessel that the post is about, great to hear that she's been identified. What a great site this is with so much knowledge out there for us all to gain from ๐Ÿ‘

Hello Craig. They have a beautiful old ship there. It's definitely worth restoring. I restored the ocean-going tug OCEANIC and know a little about it. I also posted the OCEANIC in my port. There you can see them before and after the restoration. If you wish, I would be happy to show you more pictures of it. I wouldn't repaint the ship, I would just clean it, that looks more authentic. Clean the entire ship using only dishwashing water and a scouring pad.
    Here are a few pictures.

Hi Craig, that's a fabulous old north sea coaster and needs a good sympathetic restoration.
I've seen ships of this type in East Coast ports in the late 50's and early 60's .
My main hobby is the restoration of old models and I will help with anything I can in your restoration.
I have models dating back as early as 1914. right up to present.
Never chuck it away if it could be used or repurposed, has always been my moto.
So keep us informed on your progress, and don't be afraid to ask for help.
    Cheers Colin.
Fair winds and calm waters, COLIN.

Clyde Puffers typically have their rudder hanging 'way out the back, with the pintles on the very, very aft edge of the stern. Also the exhaust stack wud be just forward of the wheelhouse, whether steam or diesel, as the motor is always far aft. I own 2, with a 3rd under construction.

    Welcome aboard Craig!
I'm with Peejay. Looks like a custom built coastal freighter or a tramp steamer. Possibly an early 20th Century German "coastal tramp steamer." A very worthy restoration is in order! ๐Ÿ˜Š

p.s. here's a couple of similar early "clockwork" examples...

It is definitely not a puffer. Much too large. Could be a coastal freighter.
    So many ships . . . and so little time . . .

Hi craigG, I wish you good restoration work.
It's a difficult operation but here in this forum I've seen masters who "resurrect" models that are almost ready to be thrown away.
They will give you great advice. I'm sorry I can't help you at the moment but I have no experience in this field.

Hi All hope your all enjoying the Xmas break.
I apologise for my clumsiness if I've posted in the wrong place its my first post. I helped my granddad build this model 35yrs ago I remember it sailed well on its maiden voyage sat well in the water and came back without leaks. However its never really had an identity and my knowledge of vessels/models is at best limited, I've sort of pinned it a Clyde puffer I don't know how close I am. I'm looking to do a restoration job on this as its been sat in my grandads shed for 20+ years. Any advice welcome
