Hello, a dream came true. I could take the “CAP SAN DIEGO” from Cuxhaven to Hamburg.
An early present for my 60th birthday from my dear woman.
It started at 11 a.m.
The weather was great, great visibility, sunshine and around 23 degrees warm. So perfect.
And every now and then a stiff breeze
First on board, there was a CAP SAN DIEGO coffee mug.
It was immediately filled with coffee and a nice Franzbrötchen.
For lunch there was spaetzle with sliced meat and for coffee there was more coffee and muffins with cherries or blueberries.
Finally get on board.
A shanty choir played as a welcome and occasionally during the journey

Mike Unfortunately, I'm not retired yet, I'm still five years away. We have a small terraced house with a 400 square meter plot, so there's always something to do. When I do any tinkering, it's 1-2 times a week and only for 1-2 hours at most. That also explains the long construction time of the RAU of a good 2.5 years.

After almost 2 1/2 years I have finished my Rau.
I have to say it was a bit nerve-wracking but it was also a lot of fun, not least because of your comments, which always motivated me.
It's just a shame that Reinhard (a good friend and model maker who unfortunately passed away last year) can no longer see it and I would like to remind you of Reinhard again at this point.
I have him to thank for the model, because he found it on the Internet and pointed it out to me.
I will add driving pictures and of course a short film in the next few days.
I will do an extra lap for Reinhard.

I've prepared a few more fans for installation.
I've glued reinforcements to the bottom again so they're more stable.
I thought this would take forever, but I'm slowly getting to the finish line.
Just glue the fans in, add some rigging, then I think I'll be ready
for the maiden voyage.

Thanks for your feedback. At the moment I can manage a bit more because I'm off sick this week. I have a stiff neck but I'll be back at work next week. It's not so easy to follow the rigging on the plan, so it takes me a while to understand it. But somehow I get the hang of it and the second rope of the Hapune is also finished. It works. 😀
