I use a Radiomaster 16S. It has memory for more models than I will ever need, an os called OpenTX, (now Edge), and it comes with a the 4in1 chipset. There are 4 chips on in the transmitter that allows me to bind to around 90 percent of the receivers out there...FrSky, Flysky, Spektrum, Futaba, etc. That allows me to buy good used receivers of most any make and saves me a bit of cash in the process. Also, I can wipe out any function in the transmitter and assign it to another switch, slider or stick. If i have a 4 channel receiver, and I want to use say, channel 3 for a light switch, and i want to use a 2 position switch on the transmitter to control it, I just go into the menu, find the stick that controls Channel 3, and assign that switch to it. Plus, multiple mixes, curves, things Ill probably neber use but there if I need them. And it's been rock solid so far.

I mainly use Hi Tec as I bought a boat off Dave Milbourn which had a Hi Tec receiver in it but he recommended them anyway. Pity is though that they stopped producing transmitters and receivers but I've managed to stock up on the later for my existing and planned builds. The Flash 8 I have is very good as it has multiple channels and memory for many models.

I've also got a Radiomaster wheel Tx which I use for my plastic race boats and Tamiya Unimog which is very good. And a couple of very cheap wheel Tx's that came with the ready to run plastic boats and they do the job.

I recently bought this radio from Temu as at ยฃ4.70 it would be stupid not to try it out.
The normal price is ยฃ15, which is also very cheap.
Itโ€™s not great quality but works well and has 7 channels.
The receiver has normal servo outputs as well as a couple of two pin outputs for lights etc.
It is designed for cars or trucks but I tested it in a boat and it worked well.

I started with a Flysky then tried a Radiomaster but could not get on with Edge/TX so went to FRSky using Ethos - by far the best radio system I have seen so far but as said they are not cheap
FRSky are also dual band 2.4GHz and 900

One of my radios is a Spektrum. The boat sank and after cleaning it out (including the receiver), the receiver was dead, still after a week. I bought a replacement, but I gave the receiver one last check after two months and it worked!
The Spektrum transmitter is pretty solid, a lot heavier than the Flysky.
Can't say the Spektrum is inexpensive, probably about 4x the price of Flysky.

I use Spektrum dx7. Its reliable and if it gets water in it, the bits are cheap to replace! (With the mod to the voltage regulator, I get about 5hrs power up time, for each charge cycle!)

I have a range of transmitters and each has its pros and cons.
    Taranis X9
    Spektrum DX6
    Futaba FF7
    Futaba FP
    Futaba 27Mhz
The quality of the Futabasโ€™ is far better than the rest.
