Pump (3-5V submersible) - I see the same on Amazon (2 for $7 US) the link below. Temu is even cheaper.

TIP120 Darlington available everywhere (~1$ US).

Tubing is 3/16 inch dia. (Tygon, aquarium, etc) .

    Resistor 2K ohm I used a 2.2 K ohm (OK).

Breadboard - most anywhere electronics are sold.

Wires, small gauge. I used only black and red pairs to keep wires together.

Connectors - common small red battery type.

Plastic parts - If anyone has access to an FDM 3D printer, I can send you the STL files via email.

I just finished putting together a circuit, testing it and creating a video for an automatic bilge pump. This circuit can also be used to trigger a warning light or noise/sound.

Easy to build and inexpensive. The video shows the pump working. Enjoy!

That is a nice tutorial. I like it.

In my case, my boats are all relatively slow and calm running ( no speedsters ). So the use of a bilge is rare. I had a couple of instances where water from above went into the inner compartments directly as a result of waves. However, since all my boats are large and have multi compartments, I would need multiple pumps.

Keep it going, love to hear more on tips and improvements. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

    Hi Lew,

did a similar thing last year in my Russian jet workboat model, using a water level switch from Ali Express. Probes (different lengths) were made from stainless windscreen wiper inserts which sit in a well in the stern of the boat. The switch unit is seen on the port side operating (LED on/off) It's automatic and was needed due to the leaks in the multi directional valve box I made for the jet unit. Pump was originally just on a switch (kept forgetting to turn it on๐Ÿ˜‚)

Beautifully simple Lew. Would you care to list your components for us? Where would you put a fuse or breaker in your circuit?

Nice one Lew. This is just the sort of thing I wish to install in one of my boats. At present the pump is operated by a switch controlled by the transmitter, and it is complete guess work as to whether the bilges need pumping or not. ๐Ÿ˜‰
