I am very attached to my FrSky radios. Their new tray radio is a bit expensive, but you should be able to find a used X9E for a very reasonable price. It will provide up to 24 channels, although you can choose 8 or 16 as well. It is fully computerized and, as such, there is a learning curve, but that applies to all new computer radios. They all provide electronic servo throw limits, servo speed adjustments, and usually infinite mixing capability.
I feel sure that others have their own opinions. If you get a chance, stop by a model meet or show and chat up folks about their radios. It may help rather than taking a blind leap.
