Haven't been working on my deep- sea trawler for a while. I needed to build some railings on the deck, but didn't want to wait and buy them and pay tariffs on them at an American hobby store, so I got some brass rod here at a local hobby store and soldered some up. I also decided to use the lifeboat kits for the ship. Next step: painting railings. Also need to do all the rigging yet.

Hi Zooma,
Sadly I doubt I will be able to attend this years 1040's day, I was looking forward to it but I have too many hospital appointments.
Health problems and opp recovery times put paid to travelling.
My Air Rifles are
BSA .22 Scorpion Walnut Stock.
BSA .177 Defiant Walnut Stock. I won this in a gun mag competition.
Logun Eagle .22 Walnut Stock.
Diana .177 Beach Stock. 1960's, had this for over 55 years. and a
.22 Rifle. Break barrel.
I don't know what it is, it was gifted to me by my wifes Uncle a couple or some years back.
I have a 30 yard back garden so I can shoot out there.
All fully enclossed, high walls.
I also have the crossbow with a 40lb prod fitted.
But I have both rota cuffs on my shoulders torn so that's all I could pull.
I am currantly awaiting opps on both shoulders one for a new shoulder joint.
Plus another Carpul tunnel opp, only just had one done, 4 weeks ago, wife still wont let me drive yet. But I must say it is well tender at the pressent.
I hate this getting OLD, the brain doesn't seem to think that way though and my kid's are constantly saying " you shouldn't be do this or that".
Not that they are kids any more, 42, 51 and 53 next month, he will be coming down from Heywood for his Birthday. Can't waitto see him and my daughter in law.
Sorry you can't make the 1940's day this year due to hospital appointments and health problems etc , but as you mention, this getting OLD lark can restrict our ability to do some of the things that we would like to do.
We had a series of hospital appointments over the previous couple of years that prevented us from doing quite a lot of the things that we wanted to do, so I really understand your situation - only too well!
When you do find you way up to Lancashire next, you would be welcome to come to our small 10 meter shooting club range, but please give me some notice as I may be in Ainsdale - hopefully enjoying some good weather and some time on the Southport Club lake.🤞
You have an interesting collection of sporting air rifles - especially the one that you won in a gun mag competition - well done!
I have always enjoyed shooting my spring powered air rifles whenever I can - and strangely enough - I also have some shoulder problems at the moment - what a coincidence !
Your shoulder problems are a lot more serious than mine as I have been diagnosed as having "frozen shoulders"....so hopefully they will thaw-out sometime soon 🤣.
Its has been a little too cold to paint the deep- sea trawler outside, so I got some paint in a bottle at the hobby store. It ain't pretty, but it seems to work. I tried spray painting the hull in the shed, but it all bubbled up on the hull sanded the paint off as best as I could and tried again with bottled painting the red, black, and white hull. The paint was sneaking up under the masking tape also there still some more little deck stuff she should be it in tip-top shape by June.

Hi Garth
I only paint my fuselages with spray cans. I really take my time with it. First, I sand the fuselage well and apply the first coat of paint very thinly. Then I wait 20-30 minutes. Then the next coat, again very thin. I wait another 20-30 minutes. And so on. This way, there are no runs. I usually do this until the can is empty. I do the same with clear coat.
Hmmm
What is "paint in a bottle "?
"I tried spray painting the hull in the shed, but it all bubbled up on the hull ..."
There are two possible reasons for this-
1 You were spraying much too close,
2 The primer/undercoat paint you used was not the same type as the colour/top-coat and they reacted with each other.
Ref: "The paint was sneaking up under the masking tape ..."
This suggests that you are using cheap decorator's masking tape which has 'crinkle cut edges' thus allowing the 'creep' that you mention.
Given the same problem some years ago I started using Tamiya masking tape wherever I needed a sharp line; i.e. waterline and boot-topping.
Behind that you can use cheap masking tape and newspaper (or whatever) to mask larger areas.
Cheers, Doug😎
Wanted to put Navigation lights on the Trawler went through all my junk found some 3volt ones So for a few days started installing them .I have to admit I was a electrician for 40 years retired now and to put tiny wires and AA battery box in a model boat takes me a long time to install and try out. I guess my photos aren't great but there good enough for me.I was at a show with the club and for two days I built the little life boats .Just like to show attendees how wood boats are built.

Garth,
Great job on that model—really nicely done.
I can fully relate to the 3V lights and those tiny wires because that’s exactly what I’m going through with the Juanita model.
😎
Those navigation lights are not LEDs; they use old-style incandescent bulbs and can only take 3 volts. If the voltage to the bulb is higher, they will pop. Then I'll need to put LED bulbs rated for 6 volts, no need for a resistor. If that happens, I can get a Red & Green LED rated for 6 volts use a battery box with 4 AA or a battery box for 4AAA batteries or use the receiver's battery output, which is 6 volts

Just an update on the wiring for the Nav lights. The lights, the battery, the wiring, and the pushbutton are under the wheelhouse.
