72" Electric Deep V Twin Motor Monstrosity

Hello everyone!

So, I've been searching for a fun community to share this project with for some time now, and here at model-boats, I think I've found just the right crowd!

So, brown-nosing complete, let's begin.

Initially, my interest pique'd having watched the YouTube video "How to make a scale RC foam board boat" posted by user Matthew Autenrieb. We exchanged some emails, I got hold of the plans, and began drawing up this thing in 3D.

That's when I caught the fever.

this video happened, and then my YouTube history channel is FILLED with build videos, customised RC speed boats and a plethora of designing ideas. Whilst Matthew and Jh0e101 have great boats, I wanted something more... Something spectacular.

I want something as tall as me.

I want it fast.

I want it big.

I want it full of power.

I set about researching how to make the batteries I already have more powerful.

I researched how I could make the stock motors I already own more powerful.

I wanted everything in my home to explode with electricity.

And, mostly, it all did 😁

-----------------------------------------

Attached you can see the plans for this boat. Rest assured, that deck is 72" - seventy-two inches - 1830mm - SIX FOOT !!!

So, builders, newbies, vet's, everyone.. I welcome you all along my journey into this monster. I'm unsure what to call it... I woke this morning and my first thought, even before the beautiful lady that is losing me to this research was, Project Poseidon. Thoughts?

I have put up a thread I'd love for everyone to take part in for giving advice, passing comments, offering ridicule and having a laugh with me along the way so that this can be kept clean and tidy directly for the project. Thread can be found here: http://mdlbt.com/19708

Keep an eye on both, as updates will be coming in the next few days as my electronics all start to arrive and the laser cutter starts to sizzle through plastics and woods!!!

Cheers,
Dean

PS. On successful completion, blueprints may be made available in various sizes, complete with electronics suggestions from what knowledge I gain from this build.

I also have another project that I'm documenting quietly on the side, which I shall release THE MOMENT she is seaworthy and running about causing acts of terror upon other RC boat enthusiasts....

    Keep an eye on these spaces!! 😁 😁 😁 😁 😁

After much deliberation, boat is coming own from 72" to 60" because of an exponential electronics' cost difference to overcome the drag.

    Specs thus far are:

    Twin 4084 1050Kv Turnigy motors:
    http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__65411__Turnigy_AquaStar_4084_1050KV_Water_Cooled_Brushless_Motor_UK_Warehouse_.html

They will be regulated by two monster ESC's:

Juice will be provided by two setups:

    Primary testing and cruising: 4S 25C 14.8V 5200mAh LiPo

    [Hopefully] Showing off: 2x 3S 25C 11.1v 2200mAh LiPo in series, creating (by my understanding) a 6S 50C 22.2v 4400mAh power source.

Prop: X465 Octura RH to compensate rotation

    Rudder: TBC

(opinions on welcome: Aluminium Rudder System 130mm from http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/race-rudders.html)
