A 16ft tanker towboat

this is our 16ft tanker towboat that I built about 3 years ago for our club. Chantry model club . www.chantrymodelboatclub.co.uk
she is 16ft long and 2ft wide with sides 10" deep. she has no bottom in the hull sections which are 2ft x 2ft, instead she has 4" of foam fitted up under the deck which she floats on, this leaves the sides acting as a long keel and stops her slipping about sideways and alsogives her a lot of water resistance for towing.
She also has her own motor and battery so that she can be used as a very large radio controlled boat.
she was built from 6mm plywood 6 full sheets in all.
the bow and stern sections are fully watertightso if we want a shorter model we just remove a section ot two and away we go.
these pictures are of her in the builders yard before any paint was added.

A 16ft tanker towboat

these pictures show her with some of the hull sections removed.
each hull section has 4 brackets on one end and 4 coresponding slots the other. to assemble all we have to do is slide the brackets into the slots ,and then drop long steel pins down through two holes in the deck which line up with the brackets and hey presto joined. this way she can be assembled and in the water in 10 minutes. no nuts and bolts to worry about.

Now that's a proper ship for tugs to tow.
Like the sound of your method of joining. Any chance of a close up of two unjoined halves so I can copy your method, please 😀
